Description

This is just a fun toy I coded up in a few hours. If I get more rude App Store reviews, I will just stop working on the app. There is a feedback button in the app.

Add playful eyes to your menu bar that follow your cursor and blink when you click. Pure whimsy!

Note: Menu bar items on inactive secondary displays are clones of the original, so the eyes won't track correctly on those screens. There is no way to fix this.

Note: The app uses more CPU than I would have liked because macOS is very inefficient at updating menu bar items. The app is optimized as much as possible. Beware that when Activity Monitor shows 10% CPU usage, that's for one core - meaning only about 1.2% of total CPU on an 8-core machine.

Didn’t know I needed this…

I thought my top bar was complete, but now I know I just hadn’t yet found this app. It follows the mouse around, blinks when I click, and the set of eyes moves to whichever of my multi-screens I have highlighted. High recommendation.

Pretty cool. Needs better multi display support and performance improvements.

As the description says, the eyes on inactive secondary displays are clones of the original, which is unfortunate. It would be nice if the developer could figure out how to have the eyes track correctly so that each set of eyes is looking at the cursor. I assume there isn’t an API to access the macOS Display arrangement. But why not build something in Googly Eye settings that allows the user to map out the display arrangement? Also, the performance could be improved. The pupils occasionally jump around and don’t animate smoothly… and I have a M2 Ultra. I’ll keep it installed because it reminds me of a similar thing I had on my Amiga 30 years ago!

Developer Response ,

What you are asking is impossible. macOS clones the menu bar items on secondary displays. This is not about display arrangement. A clone means it’s exactly the same on all displays and there is no way to influence that.

just some fun

This is a cute fun app that does nothing else but follow your cursor and blink when you click. That’s it. Love it, like all other apps by Sindre.
