Description
Grab2Text is a simple app that can extract text from selected areas of your Mac screen and copy the recognized text to the clipboard, saving you precious time.
Grab Text: when selecting this option, the Mac cursor will be in selection mode, and you can select a part of the screen. The app will recognize any text in the selected area and will copy it to the clipboard.
Read QR Code: You can select an area on the screen and recognize any QR code within it.
History: Keeps a history of the last 10 extracted texts.
Ratings and Reviews
Quick & Easy Time Saver
It works perfectly fine on M2 Pro. It's a bit redundant, but can save a few seconds (every time you use it).
1) With this app, you hit a key combo just like you would otherwise do a screenshot with a key combo, but it saves the "other" 2 steps of then highlighting the text in the screenshot and pressing the trashcan icon. Instead, JUST the key combo and text goes right into the clipboard. This app directly grabs the text and copies it, then discards the screenshot. According to the developer's site, 10 images are temporarily stored locally. I would rather it just purges right away, but didn't see the option.
2) It translates QR to text
OVERALL, I tried it...it's tiny, works great, but it's just one more extra app I won't remember to use on those ocassions I need it. I just don't copy text out of pics enough. HOWEVER, if I could copy a link to into the app & get the text of an article, for example, I'd be in.
Works for Sonoma
I use it constantly, and it has worked 100% of the time. We have folks who do video presentations but forget to forward links and other text presented in the videos from their PowerPoints. Before this plugin, I would have to eyeball the URLs to get them right. Now, I can capture them in real-time while the person is speaking without interrupting or asking in the chat.
Love this app
I use it every day to copy text that is not selectable. It really saves me a lot of time. One feature that would be especially helpful for me would be to include an option in settings to set a keystroke for Read QR codes. I use this feature a lot and would like to be able to do it more efficiently from the keyboard. Thank you so much!
