I've been using this app since the start of the semester to manage my college class. I use it in conjunction with the iPhone Attendance app and it's pretty convenient. I really didn't want to mess with paper and love to use my Macbook Air as often as possible. The GradeA app has a pretty high learning curve and could be polished quite a bit to be more user friendly. The UI is not stellar, but it's functional. Overall, the app works pretty good to keep track of my class grades and attendance records, but I would like it much more if the same features were overlayed on a nicer interface. If you'e looking for a Mac app to keep up with your class, try this one. It does also have a feature to send info about student grades and attendance by email to students, but I do not use that feature since it has to tie into your mail account setup on the Mac and I don't want my students to have my personal email address.

I am a college professor and I’ve been looking for an independent grading program that I could employ outside of the online services (e.g. Blackboard) that are common. I spent a good deal of time comparing and this does what I need. The interface is clean, the sorting capabilities are simple, and you can export the class grades into an Excel or Pages program easily. There is a bit of a learning curve but this isn’t impossible if you’ve ever used a grading program. Just give yourself time with the demo version (on the developer’s website) and you’ll see if it will work for you. My needs were to grade for each student about four items, average them, and generate a final grade. (I don’t use attendance.) This worked. You can even put in notes for assignments to remember what you’re thinking when “that student” comes around wanting an explanation.If the developer returned to it for improvement (his last: 2014), then it would be nice to be able to export select items to Pages (e.g. Creating a sheet that sorted grades by ID number alone so the class could see the results privately; or having a stats export of a given test so that a page would show the distribution of scores [a bar graph?], scores, and averages).

This has a lot of options and is pretty intuitive. For the things that are not intuitive (at least to me), I have e-mailed Dave several times and gotten super helpful, super speedy guidance from him. So I’m very happy.

Wish I had not spent the money! There does not appear to be a way to enter separate assignments. This actually looks like a program for taking attendence, everything is about taking attendance and not for keeping track of grades for each student. I spent over $14 for nothing!! Very dissatisfied.
