Grand Design Compass Connect 4+

Lippert needs to pay attention to the dozens of reviews complaining about the in-motion lockout feature, which regularly locks me out when the rig is parked. Fire the lawyers that insist on it being there and use the money to hire programmers who can fix this app. Even if you feel compelled to cover you backsides legally, put a caution message on the screen when it starts up, and disappears when acknowledged in til the app is closed and restarted. Actually locking functions out is senseless, as most travelers have a companion passenger who may be operating the app instead of the driver. The app has potential, but it is lost behind this aggravation and things that just don’t work and control panel confusion.

I downloaded this app last weekend. No issues making a connection to my Travel Trailer and it provides updates on status of all systems, which is great. The issue I have is that it continually runs in the background depleting my iPhone battery. Once I figured out the depleting was occurring due to the app running in the background, I turned off background refresh for the Compass Connect app. It did not seem to have any effect. After more than 21 hours of being turned off, the battery is still being depleted in the course of a few hours after a full charge. I verified it was turned off so I need to delete the app. This is a big problem since I was hoping to use the app while traveling but will not reinstall until I see the background app refresh setting issue is resolved. One thing I cannot put up with is an app killing my battery. Especially, when I would need it most.

The app is OK (not good or great) most of the time. I routinely get a pop-up message saying my fifth wheel trailer is in motion and that some features are locked out until I press a physical button on the control panel in the trailer (and even then, pressing a button in the trailer doesn’t do anything). If I’m stopped and trying to connect to see my rear-view camera so I can then back into a camping spot, I don’t want to have to get out, unlock my trailer, and pull down the steps just to go in and press a button. Ditto when trying to see my tire pressures from the Tire Linc system - of course I’m in motion. When you need the app the most, it locks you out, which is very frustrating.

The app should have the capability for the user (who may be a passenger) to confirm they are not driving or moving to override the motion lock out in the app.
