Great Game! But a few glitches

I play gin rummy often in the real world, and I am familiar with the card draws you get. In this game I have wound up with multiple sets and runs at the beginning of my hand and only need two cards to go out. I have had opponents do the same and catch me with upwards of 60 points or more in my hand. That’s fine. I can deal with that. The piece that gets me was I had a run of 3,4,5,6 of diamonds and the opponent I had knocked after two cards. The point system then broke up my run and added more points when the game ended. Also, I can’t pick the cards I want to lock. Say I have a 4,5,6 and an incomplete run of 5’s. It will complete the set of 5’s and I can’t choose to have it complete the runs and give me my 5’s back. I will be happy to explain this frustrating issue if needed
Thank you!

Hi Kitkat Ann, thank you very much for your review. We really appreciate it. Regarding your concerns about this particular game where points were added after your opponent knocked, could you please report this to our customer service so that our team can look into it for you? To contact Customer Support, tap on Settings at the top right and then on "FAQ & Support". Please provide them with this short description and the approximate time and date you played it so they can identify the game. We can understand that it is frustrating that you cannot completely manually sort the cards in your hand. Our team found that this is a time-consuming process within the allocated time per turn and could lead to more problems for players. Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback on this option and will pass it on to our development team for their consideration.

Designed to force purchase

Ok, so I’ve gone back to this game off and on over the last few years. When it comes to design and ease of use, this game is my favorite. It’s simple, but elegant looking and doesn’t bombard you with ads, which is great! HOWEVER, after playing a while, it becomes quite obvious that you really can’t get anywhere without making purchases. The amount of coins you get back for a win is way too low, not even half of what you put in to play, so one loss can be devastating to your total amount. Also after some time it just feels like the odds are stacked against you. When game after game, your opponents are able to knock or even gin after just a couple cards being played leaving you no chance at all, it just doesn’t feel worth playing. It’s either an issue of unrealistic shuffling and dispersing of cards or it’s rigged. Then there’s the leagues...they cap the amount of trophies you can get per level, so unless you play the higher costing tables you’re never going to make enough to rank high on the leaderboard, but then all it takes is one bad game on said high cost table and you’re done. No measly couple hundred coins every 4 hours is gonna help with that either. So yeah, I have a love hate feeling towards this game. Love the design and basic function but resent the low percentage of coins you win back after the low chance you actually win a game.

Dear Cm318, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. Please note though that the distribution of cards in Grand Gin Rummy is generated randomly and not influenced by players' experience levels, the table entry, nor whether or not they make in-app purchases. The same conditions apply to each player and it is always the same generator that deals the cards. As I hope you can understand, we are a company and regret that we can't offer 100% chip payouts for games. However, we do offset this by giving away free chips every 4 hours and awarding chests for XP, league position and win streaks so that players are never forced into making a purchase should they not wish to.

Why don’t we win 2x entry fee?

Honestly this game is really fun. I think the mechanics are great for gin rummy and the game experience is exactly what I was looking for.

But, when we win, why don’t we win the full entry fee placed by both players, or double the cost to play? Spending 300 to win 450 sets everyone up to lose unless they maintain well above a 50% win rate. If we won 600 after spending 300, doubling our money by winning, you would stay at the same chip count at a 50% win ratio. Why not make so average win rate players can keep playing? Look at how money in Golf Clash works. Both players put up coins, winner takes all. Everyone in Gin Rummy 2 is set for failure unless they can maintain a super high win rate, which is difficult in a game where “luck” is a significant factor.

Then, when you run out of chips you can’t play unless you buy more. Sure, most games have in app purchases, but this game requires it. Why not run an advertisement for 300 coins (minimum entry fee at the lowest tier) so that when you run out you can at least still pay, and you get paid. Waiting around for daily login bonus or a box every 4hr for 250 coins (not even minimum entry fee) seems ridiculous.

Developer Response ,

Dear fwdan1. We can understand how frustrating it can be if you run out of chips. However in Grand Gin Rummy 2, we have been trying to offer more ways to earn free chips including free chips in the shop every 4 hours (instead of once daily like in the old app), chest rewards for league position, XP upgrade and win streak, as well as the option to trade in gems for more playing chips.

As I hope you can appreciate, we are a company and therefore, it is unfortunately not possible for us to offer 100% payouts for games played. Nonetheless, we will pass on your feedback and suggestion for chips via video ads on to our team for their consideration.
