Lots of good info, but...

If you want to be able to stream every top-division bout, without any chatter, for a bit of a steep fee every month, it works. You can also view match results going back quite a few years! The profiles on each wrestler contain the most important information and it all flows well visually and in terms of functionality.

However, if you’re new to sumo, the app is REALLY hard to use 😕 I’m using it in English and very often that just means Romanjii. There’s no easy way to look up sumo terms of other information that newer fans might want or need. There are also items in the menu that I have no idea what they are, because I don’t hear the terms in NHK World’s sumo coverage and the app doesn’t explain anything itself.

The app also often features videos of things like, say, everything pertaining to a promotion to Ozeki...with neither subtitles nor captions, so unless you can understand spoken Japanese, usually at the speed that native speakers use, you’re kind of up a creek.

I get that the JSA didn’t have to release the app with ANY English—they didn’t even have to release it outside of Japan—but it does feel a bit unpolished. Mind, I gave this four stars, so it’s still quite helpful!

Helpful app

It’s very helpful and organized. The structure makes sense. Thank you.

Almost perfect

I love this app. It's great for the international sumo fan however it has one MAJOR PROBLEM and that is that you know who wins a match before watching and that kind of spoils the excitement. The red highlights of winners should stop and the thumbnail stills of the match need to be changed from the end (where you can see who wins, to the faceoff or begining). Come-on no one wants to know who wins before watching! I'd really love to throw away the silly mask I've made for my screen and stop hitting the play button before the still immage appears. Slightly longer clips would be most appreciated. Fans want the ambiance.
