Hopeful turned Disappointed ,

So far exactly what I’m looking for

I have been on the hunt for an app to help me take care of my houseplants. I’ve paid for Blossom as well as Planta. Neither fit what I needed and their apps were filled with too much fluff and were difficult to navigate. I will say that if you want to read tips about plant care, Blossom takes the cake of the 3. Planta gave inaccurate and often completely wrong care info. Blossom was decent. Greg is less informative and more action-oriented, but exactly what I needed. I am new to houseplants (started during quarantine) and am trying to learn how to take care of the variety of plants I’ve collected. Over the last year I’ve learned that for most of my plants, what people recommend online is often not adequate. There are so many other factors - humidity, light, soil, pot size, pot material, plant size, season, drafts, etc. No other app (that I’ve found) can intelligently take all of those factors into account. But then I found GREG! Have only been using it for a day but so far it is exactly what I’ve been looking forward to. And I’m super excited to see how it starts to “learn”. Hopefully things continue to go well.

Simple, Pretty, Adless, and Helpful

I’ve only had this app for a couple days but I’m a huge fan so far. I decided to invest in the $30 lifetime option because honestly I’ve spent way more on my plants and I’ve got a gift card that brought it down to $5. I love cataloguing and seeing how my plants compare to others. The AI is pretty impressive especially in identifying most plants simply from photos. It seems like the beginning of a great app to integrate into my life, but I definitely see room for growth (no pun intended.) I think there should be ways to update your experiences with a plant in a social way. Instead of just seeing people having watered their plants on my feed I’d love to see propagations, fertilizing, repotting, pest control, and even plant deaths. I think this would make the app loads more interesting and fun. I’d also love a commenting feature or an advice feature where fellow plant folk can respond to inquiries for help. TLDR: Definitely worth it for someone passionate about plants so long as updates are on the way.

Developer Response ,

Hey @tree2727 (great username btw 👌) ! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts! We've been working on some awesome upgrades to our social features for the past few months that hit on nearly all of the points you mentioned above. We're super excited to release these in the coming weeks and would love to hear your feedback on them when they become available! You're always welcome to share feature ideas or feedback to support@greg.app 🤗🌱

Super handy for more than just a watering schedule

I love the social aspect of the app, and the little tidbits of information on the home page.

This app will totally help you water more regularly, but also it just helps keep track what type of plants you own. I often forget the official names of my plants and having this information so readily on hand makes researching fertilization needs, when to repot, pest treatments etc etc way easier. It also helped me identify a few plants that I had 0 idea what kind of plant I owned.

For edits I’d love to see: I want to be able to keep more information about my plants. Which plants share containers, whether my plants are in a closed/semi closed terrarium or in water. The social and cataloging aspect of the apps has made it fun to add plants that I don’t need a water schedule but I also feel bad that those plants could affect their algorithm. I also want to add more scecific descriptions about my plants updates “turning greener” “my current goal for this plant” “testing out this propagation methods.” “This method kicked my fungus Gnar problem” I love to see what other people are thinking about their plants, and I want to share what works for me.
