Gro Connect -- setup and manage your Gro Smart Devices

You use your Smartphone to manage everything else in your busy life, now you can add watering your lawn and plants to the list.

With Gro Connect, you can setup and administer your Gro Smart Irrigation Controller, your Gro Water Sensor Starter Kit and additional sensors directly from your Smartphone.

Configure Smart Watering schedules for optimal water use, remotely control your sprinklers in real-time, get watering reminders from your plants, system alerts and more. How does the app work? It’s easy.

To use with the Gro Smart Irrigation Controller...
After your Gro Smart Irrigation Controller is installed in your home or garage, you use the Gro Connect app for a quick, three step, Bluetooth/WiFi setup process.

To use with the Gro Water Sensor Starter Kit or individual Sensors...
After you plug the Gro Hub (that comes in the Sensor Starter Kit) into any indoor power outlet within range of your home WiFi system, you then use the same three step, Bluetooth/WiFi setup process as the Gro Smart Irrigation Controller to set up your Sensors.

Once setup is complete for any device, you can access your system from anywhere in the world via your Smartphone and manage your Controller or Sensors just as if you were at home.

You can use the Gro Connect app with any Gro smart device, independently.

Two Stars for Turning the Sprinklers On & Off

I've had the controller for a year or two. The controller and the app turn the sprinklers on and off, usually. I often get no-watering alerts due to a wifi disconnect when there is no indication of a wifi problem. We have received over 10 inches of rain in the past two weeks and it's still watering (this would be a good time for a no-watering alert or wifi disconnect). The My Lawn app reflects over 7 inches in the past 7 days so I know their servers are aware of it. Attempting to access Support/Help in the gro app results in a 404 error. Calling Scott's customer service results in several minutes on hold followed by a recording stating the reps are still busy and then a disconnect. I guess Scott's is going the way of another former favorite of mine, Sears.

Another product hits market before it's ready

So I spent the $$ on this thing and even bought a moisture sensor- all with dreams of beautiful green grass, tall happy trees, and maybe some plump tomatoes but all I got was this lousy headache.
First off allow me to mention I am no stranger to technology or irrigation controls. I've had several over the years and have eyeballed a wifi setup for some time now and being familiar with the Scotts brand I decided it was time....$175 and 6 days later and I'm looking for the box so I can return it all.
The controller can't see and won't connect to the sensor. The day I brought it home I was able to connect and set some zones up but 5 days later I changed my router out-went to update the controller and 1.5 hours later it can't even see me now. Says I'm too far away but I'm standing right next to it. Any closer and it's inside me.
Its not a huge surprise however because when I was able to use it, the app seemed to show pages overlaying pages and some features wouldn't work. This very much seemed unfinished and certainly unpolished.
I'm still sold on the concept but I obviously chose the wrong brand. If this doesn't start connecting tmrw ill return the whole mess and get a proper system.

Switching from Blossom to Gro Connect is an upgrade so far

So I’ve owned a Blossom controller for a year and had some quirky behavior which I hadn’t figured out whether it was too aggressive with the water sense, or whether there were some other issues with my system, but basically I wasn’t watering enough. Over the weekend I downloaded and connected to my Blossom using the Gro Connect app. The UI of the app is quite different, but so far it seems to have added some additional features and settings. When viewing an individual zone there is a button to tap to test the zone - this seems to be a 1 minute cycle. Very handy! When setting up the water sense there seems to be 3 or 4 more options that will allow me to fine tune the settings - things like root depth and inches per hour that the sprinklers put out in each zone. Also the schedule tells me what it’s planning to do each day. I’ll keep a closer eye on that this year to see if it really does increase watering to cope with the long hot sunny Kansas summer.
