Ground Unearthed 4+

Ground Unearthed is an augmented reality experience that reconnects you to what you eat, the journey it takes, and the inequalities that exist within the global chain. The app tells stories about food inequality and the unethical patenting of botany. Each story is about a common food product, its origin, uses, cultivation, or trade, highlighting in particular how children are involved in, and impacted by, food production and unethical patenting. From the boy who revolutionised the vanilla industry, to the children who are still forced to work on cocoa plantations, and the people and organisations working to make change.

The project is about awareness and connection, bridging the gap between the food we eat and where it comes from. The aim is to encourage people to think deeply about how food impacts physical, social, emotional and mental health of different communities – both in the process of production, ownership and in what we eat.
