Описание

Introducing the Guardian™ Connect continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system. The Guardian™ Connect system uses a tiny sensor to measure your interstitial glucose level, which is the glucose found in the fluid between the cells just below your skin, every 5 minutes. It takes readings all day and night and sends them to your phone via a small wireless transmitter, so you can see how you're doing anytime.

The Guardian™ Connect mobile app functions as the primary display of glucose data, showcasing up to 288 readings per day. You can see your most recent sensor glucose data and glucose trends over time. You can also receive alerts to notify you when you're going above or below your preferred range and keep track of daily events which may impact your glucose levels.
Your mobile app also sends your data to CareLink™ Personal diabetes management software, so you can see your full information online and share your information with family or friends. Those closest to you can even receive text messages whenever you go out of range.

To use the Guardian™ Connect system, you will need the Guardian™ Connect transmitter and Guardian™ Sensor 3, as well as this app. To learn more or purchase the Guardian™ Connect system, visit medtronicdiabetes.com.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This app will only work with Guardian™ Connect transmitter, which was specifically designed to communicate with your device via Bluetooth. This transmitter has the letters "GC" on the front. It will not connect to other Medtronic CGM transmitters, including the MiniLink™ and Guardian™ Link 3 transmitters.

The Guardian™ Connect system requires a prescription and is indicated for continuous or periodic monitoring of glucose levels in the interstitial fluid under the skin, in patients (14 to 75 years of age) with diabetes mellitus. The system is intended to complement, not replace, information obtained from standard blood glucose monitoring devices. See bit.ly/GCRisks

A Worsening

This new version cannot be considered an improvement.

1. It does not work if your CARELINK application is placed in a country outside the US. Therefore you cannot recover your stored data of previous months.

2. Most of devices used to measure blood glucose are graduated in milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl), but this new worsening is set to the weird seldom used graduation of millimoles per liter (mmol/l). Therefore calibration requires continuous transformation of units, something never before required.

What are these Medtronic “programmers or engineers” thinking of?

What a bluff

Had to give it a star to rate it

Why does it take so incredibly long for Medtronic to update it’s software apps relative to others. To me, it’s so unreasonable to take so long having been in the diabetes game so long (along with other technologies). Working bugs out of an app in no way compares to the rigorous checks and balances I would think are in place for research and development of the actually equipment. I have spent years waiting for software to communicate with my sons pump for years. With every rollout, an update to my hardware’s OS renders the tech useless for sometimes more than a year. It’s just unreasonable for the type and size of company Medtronic is. You need to do far better far faster in regard to the tools you provide for diabetes management you offer. I picture comfy app developers giving lip service in meetings that isn’t appreciated by superiors or other departments. My son’s life has been largely affected by the lack of those promised features never or inconsistently being realized. Now into adulthood, he will struggle to manage his diabetes as it has been a laborious experience confounded for him by the other health issues he happens to have have. Being less likely to face his diabetes consistently as a young adult will cost healthcare a lot more and diminish his quality of life. This app represented years of waiting thru U.I.s and extra equipment only to be let down by bugs!!!!!

Too little too late?

As opposed to most of the reviewers, I did not have any issues with transmitter pairing and setup — thought it was pretty smooth with straightforward explanations within the app to guide me . . . But that’s about where the positives end.

The audio alert settings do not follow what you set them to which is annoying and disruptive(hopefully a quick bug fix). The battery usage is absolutely unacceptable. For a phone that typically uses about 30% of the charge on a typically day, I am now running on fumes at the end of the day with the app installed - I don’t have time for that. Dexcom used about 15% of my battery, Guardian uses 50+%. A broader look at the guardian sensor overall is also not great — the first 6-12 hours of each sensor are awful, often off by 30-50% (this is compared to Dexcom G6 which I wore for 10 days and had only two fingersticks out of more than 30 that were more than 15% off) and seemed accurate immediately after warm-up.

The fact that this thing requires 3-4 calibrations per day for second-rate glucose data, doesn’t last 10+ days (all other sensors can) and it’s going to drain my phone battery makes it a pretty big burden to use. I don’t see this having any advantage over other products. It was probably a nice idea when they thought of it in 2014 but it’s already outdated. This product is ‘too little too late’ from Medtronic.
