Guitar Hero for people who want it actually learn to play!
Excellent way to learn to play guitar. I've actually been playing on and off for ten years but this is the first time I have actually received quality instructions: everything from proper hand positions to learning and relating the notes of the guitar to actual musical compositions. Now I have improved more in the past month than I have in all the time I've played. The UI is excellent; it feels like you're playing a video game! What's more, I recently had a problem with a glitch on my software and customer support fixed it up in a matter of hours! Seriously I sent them and email late last night and the problem was solved early this morning.
Good for your company I hope you are very successful. The only suggestion I would make would be to alter the way you have to download and play the lessons in different screens. It can be confusing at first to go back and forth between the two screens. Otherwise keep up the great work. And come out with Rock Prodigy: Intermediate to Expert!
Amazing App & company
My 13 year old son has been using Rock Prodigy for over a year now. He got introduced to Rock Prodigy when he was selected to beta test for the Dave Mustaine Guitar Prodigy app in Oct/2011. That experience & that app has changed his life! He then went to the Skolnick & Broderick Guitar retreat in Dec 2011 and because of the songs he learned on the guitar app he was confident enough to get on stage with Chris Broderick of Megadeth. At 12 years old after only learning these songs thru the app he got on stage & played Dave Mustaines parts without rehearsing w/everyone else & did it perfectly! He didn't even hesitate getting on stage,he wasn't nervous because of the app he knew he could play those songs, he knew because of his scores & ranking! My son has since gone on & done The Offspring App & The Grateful Dead App. He loves the lessons as well, it makes practicing fun!!! It is an amazing way for beginners to learn or for experienced players to practice! We can't say enough nice things about Rock Prodigy, everyone should check it out!
Great beginner course
I understand how some of the reviewers are less than impressed with the User interface. It does make knowing when to do a challenge or a capstone a little confusing. Standard notation is available, but the user is confined to the modified form of tabulature for all the exercises. On the other hand, you do get a lot of freedom in regard to navigating the course. This is a really well-developed course. New material is demonstrated and incrementally introduced. The notion of "practice, practice, practice" is built into the course. I've played through a lot of methods and honestly, I wish I would have had this to start with. It's not only well developed, but it's pretty fun. I started my 10-year old daughter on it and despite not really wanting to learn how to play, she had a blast. The background tracks are pretty cool and they figure out how to make you feel like you're "jamming" even when all you're doing I'd playing a chromatic scale. All in all, I think this is a great program to start with and as a professional, college trained musician myself of over 20 years, I would highly recommend it.
