New year, your history comes with you. Import from other apps in a minute, log sets in seconds, train from your wrist. No account, no ads, ever.
Gym Log+ is the fast, private workout tracker — logging lifting sets in seconds since 2013, now rebuilt from the ground up for modern iPhone and Apple Watch.
I built Gym Log+ in 2013 because I wanted a faster way to log my workouts. I rebuilt it in 2026 for the same reason.
ALREADY A GYM LOG+ USER?
Welcome back. Your data comes with you: on first launch, the app imports every workout, routine, custom exercise, body log, and progress photo you ever recorded. Nothing is deleted from the old data. And if you bought the app or its Pro upgrade — even years ago — your purchase is honored: you get Pro, for life, at no charge.
SWITCHING FROM ANOTHER APP?
Bring your history along. Gym Log+ imports other workout apps' CSV exports in about a minute, so your whole training record lives in one place.
LOG FAST
The whole app is built around one idea: nothing should slow down a set.
• Your previous workout's sets sit beside today's — see what to beat, tap Log, done
• Autofill suggests your next set; rest timers can start themselves
• Per-exercise rest timers, with a separate timer for your last set
• Supersets, warm-up sets, failure sets, drop sets, and optional RPE
• Cardio too: time, distance, and pace
• Warm-up calculator: a plate-rounded ramp up to today's working weight
• Plate calculator: exactly what to load on each side of the bar
APPLE WATCH — TRULY STANDALONE
Leave your phone in the locker. The watch app logs complete workouts on its own — routines, sets, rest timers — and records heart rate and Activity ring credit. Everything syncs up afterward.
ROUTINES, FOLDERS, PROGRAMS
• Build routines with target sets, reps, and rep ranges
• Organize routines into folders — or convert a folder into a program
• Programs know what's next: finish today's workout and the next day is queued up
• Plan catalog: 15 ready-made plans from beginner to advanced, free
• Share any routine or program as a file a friend can open in Gym Log+
CHARTS THAT ANSWER QUESTIONS
• A progress chart on every exercise: top set, estimated 1RM, volume, and reps — drag to scrub any day
• Stats dashboard: weekly training frequency, muscle-group volume this week vs last, and all your personal records — the last 3 months free, all-time with Pro
• Body-weight trend chart
BODY TRACKING
Log body weight free, with a trend chart, a goal line, and optional two-way Apple Health sync. Pro adds body measurements and progress photos with notes. Finished workouts can be saved to Apple Health too.
MULTIPLE PROFILES (PRO)
Share one device with a partner or family, or log clients' workouts in person as a trainer — each profile keeps its own routines, history, and body logs.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. Not "sign up later" — there is no account, no server, and no ads. Your data lives on your devices and syncs through your own private iCloud. And it stays yours: export a full backup file or a plain CSV spreadsheet any time, free.
FREE AND PRO
Free, forever: full workout logging, a catalog of 500+ exercises — strength, cardio, stretching, and yoga — plus your own custom exercises, the Apple Watch app, exercise progress charts, body-weight logging, the plan catalog, rest timers, the warm-up and plate calculators, the stats dashboard for the last 3 months, monthly recap cards to share, import, and export. The free tier includes up to 4 routines and 7 custom exercises.
Pro unlocks unlimited routines and custom exercises, body measurements and progress photos, multiple profiles, progression suggestions on the logging screen, side-by-side workout comparison, and the all-time stats dashboard with a year-in-review card: $4.99/month, $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial, or $79.99 once — lifetime, no subscription. Bought Gym Log+ before? Pro is already yours.

This app was exactly what I was looking for. The navigation is well thought out and it has everything I need and nothing I don’t. I especially like the timer that starts after every entry instead of having to start the timer manually like in other apps. And the summary at the end that shows your stats for that workout. Plus no crazy monthly fee. Thanks for a great app.One bit of feedback for the developers. When you open the notes for an exercise and click the description, the keyboard pops up and you can not exit the keyboard. Then there is no way to exit the exercise info. As the button is blocked by the keyboard. You have to restart the whole app. A bummer if you are in the middle of a workout like I was.

Hi,Thanks for the review! I'll take a look at the issue with the keyboard covering the exercise instructions and hopefully have a fix for this in the next app update.Regards,Wade
Old Version Better
Reddangus
Gone through several updates since the format was changed, still do not like this app as much as I did in the earlier version. They took away a couple of the things I like most about this app like being able to see rest between sets in previous workouts and the current workout. And then they added so many features that are more obnoxious than they are useful. For example: I have two leg days in my current program and I do leg extensions both workouts, except that in one routine I do 2 sets and the other I do 4. But now when I’m on my 4 set day it shows what I did on my 2 set day and as soon as I finish my second set it skips to the next exercise, so I have to keep scrolling back. And the feature that automatically moves you to the next exercise itself is also terrible, I like to compare how I did with previous workouts and it moves to the next one before I get a second to look at the numbers. I find myself scrolling back often, when in the old version I could just scroll over when I was ready. Also, the superset button is in the worst spot. At least 3 times I’ve inadvertently hit it and then when I’m waiting for the bell to ring for my next set I end up taking longer rest periods than I wanted because the bell doesn’t ring during supersets. Editing your sets is not very intuitive, there used to just be a big edit button if you typed the wrong weight or reps, it took me two weeks to realize you have to hold the set down to make changes. The little arrow just takes you to stats. Why would I think that holding it down would open the edit option? Overall, change is still more bad than good
Developer Response
Most of what you're missing is switched off rather than removed, and I'm sorry that isn't obvious ( that's on me not you). Settings → Workout: turn on Show Set Times for rest between sets. Turn Auto-Advance off so it stops moving on before you've compared. And turn on Match History to Routine in the settings so only show your 2-set day's numbers. Editing a set is a long press, which you're right isn't discoverable. On the superset button: mis-tapping it silently stops your rest bell, which is a genuine flaw and now on my list. Try those three switches as they change that screen into most of what you're describing. And if you'd rather tell me directly what's still wrong: support@gymlogplus.com. -Wade
6 Issues Make this a 3-Star App Instead of 5
L'AmiLouis
Best workout tracker I’ve found for customization and displaying recent performance on each exercise as I work through my routine, which is the top priority for me. But there are six limitations that make the app cumbersome for me. First, even with premium, the number of exercises per routine is restricted. When I hit the limit, an exercise drops off the list for each one I add. I figured out a workaround, but it’s a hassle. Second, I can only record time for exercises I classify as “cardio,” but I do several body weight resistance exercises, like planks, based on hold time, rather than reps and weight. Third, the exercises are not searchable, so I have to scroll through and guess what name the developer used for the exercise I want. I often find it easier to just create the exercise myself rather than hunting for it on the list. Fourth, the list of exercises is a little stale. Where are battle ropes and sleds, for example? Fifth, say that I create two routines (A and B) and make planks a part of both, because I do them every day. It seems that when when I open planks in routine A, I don’t get the history of what I did on planks the day before in routine B. Annoying. Sixth, I don’t know what the developer means by “automatic syncing,” but syncing the app between my iPhone and iPad seems not so I automatic. I have to manually back-up one device on iCloud, then wait for that back up to appear on the other device (which can take a long time), then manually “restore,” and select “merge users.” On many other apps, inter-device syncing just happens with no intervention from me. What gives?
Really disappointed I paid for the premium

I went ahead and purchased the upgrade before using the app because I was trying to build a routine and wanted access to more exercises. Entering anything into the app is cumbersome , though and not something you want to stop and do in the middle of an exercise, especially if you’re tracking more than one person. I’ve tried using the watch app and after getting home I learned that nothing was recorded to the app. Also there is a start and end button for your workout which sounds simple but can get confusing. Once I end a workout for a given day I shouldn’t be able to restart it again without some sort of “Hey, you’ve already done this” kind of message. It sounds trivial but I’ve noticed I’ve inadvertently hit the Resume after ending a session only to find the timers are running in the background until I check it again. It throws off all of the timing for your workout if you go to review them and is just unfortunate design. Either way, there’s a decent list of exercises and the $10 is sunk cost so I guess I can reference it if I don’t know how to do something and need static sketch to show me how. Still searching for the right App.
Developer Response
Hi,Thanks for the review! Sorry to hear you are disappointed with the app. I think you can receive a refund if you contact Apple. For switching between users doing the same workout on the same iPhone, I recommend turning on Settings > Users > Switch Users Shortcut to make this quicker. Regarding the Apple Watch logging, I'll take a look--the Apple Watch app should sync logged sets with the iPhone app once it's within range of the iPhone (I workout myself with the Apple Watch, though I typically also have my iPhone on me, too, so the sync occurs immediately). For the Resume workout functionality, I'll look into adding some sort of notification about the workout being done already. My rationale for having it work this way is I was frustrated myself when many other workout apps wouldn't allow you to go back into a workout easily whether it was finished or not to log additional workout sets. Please note that even if you go back to the workout, the actual workout duration won't be changed unless you log an additional set even though the workout timer resumes running. You can also view logged sets via the History tab.Feel free to send me suggestions or comments in the app via Settings > Suggest a Feature.Regards,Wade
NEW IN 3.22
• Records for high-rep sets. A set with more reps than you have ever
done at that weight or heavier is now a personal record — the trophy
while you log it, the line on the finish summary and in History, the
share card, your watch, and the month and year recaps all agree.
Until now a set past twelve reps had no route to a record at all, so
23 reps, then 27, then 30 at the same weight earned nothing. Reps at
135 lb and reps at 155 lb are separate records, and dropping the
weight to add reps is not one
• The bar to beat, right where you log. Each exercise's page in a
workout now shows its best under today's totals — "Best 225 lb", or
"Best 12 reps" for bodyweight work — drawn from every earlier day you
trained it, before you log set one
• Milestones on Stats. A new section for the facts your whole history
holds: your first workout and how long ago it was, how many you have
logged with the next round number coming, and your longest streak.
With Pro, the total volume you have moved — as a number and as
something with a known weight — and the heaviest lift you have ever
logged. Nothing to unlock or collect; every line is a fact from your
own log
• Milestones when you finish. Your 100th, 250th, 500th and 1,000th
workout gets a line on the finish summary — then every 500th to
5,000, and every 1,000th after — and so does the anniversary of your
first one. "Twelve years since your first workout" is counted from
imported history, so a long-time Gym Log user's number is the real
one. One line per finish, once per milestone, nothing animated
• Your volume, as something you can picture. The month and year recap
cards now say what the period's volume adds up to — about a school
bus, about three blue whales — one line under the number
• Your program's progress, on its card. The active program's card says
when you started it, what week you are in and how many sessions you
have done. The program's own page gains a Progress section: time on
the program, sessions per week against the plan, cycles completed,
the last session, and how many times each day has been done. All of
it comes from the workouts you did as part of the program, so
stopping and restarting keeps the count
• The consistency calendar fills an iPad. The card on the Workout tab
now shows as many weeks as the screen has room for — still twelve on
an iPhone, up to a year on an iPad, where it used to leave most of
the row blank — with month names across the top once enough weeks are
showing
