A companion app to Halfmile's 2015 Pacific Crest Trail printed map set to aid navigation on the PCT. The app determines your location and, if on the PCT or one of its side trails, it calculates trail distances to over 3,000 PCT landmarks and presents any trail notes relevant for the location. Should a hiker stray off-trail, the app includes a live trail diagram to aid navigation back to the trail.

Other features of the app include:
* Simulation mode for hike planning and hiker support
* Provides specific "how to walk there" instructions for all points
* Live trail diagram with optional compass orientation
* Calculates cumulative elevation gains and losses to all points
* Powerful search function for features like water sources, campsites, and resupply locations
* Calculates which printed map pages contain your location
* Works without cell phone service
* Download and Go -- no extra configuration or data needed

The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2,650 mile National Scenic Trail that
runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington.

Must have companion.

This app was a game changer! No need to worry if the trail was obscured, as the app kept me on track. Even when I was alone, felt confident, and at peace as I identified points along the way.

I did wish I could set distance goals, but I believe that option has been since added. I’d like to know if the app on a phone will interact with the GPS on a watch, i.e. IOS operating system with a Garmin watch...it would be great to leave the phone in the pack and keep up-to-date on the watch. If not, that’s alright, the app is well worth the effort.

Great safety app

If the trail is snow covered or you’re just not sure you’re on the right trail, this is gold. Guthook’s guide ($$) gives more info, but I trust this app with the truth. Worth having.

A Must-Have

Ended up packing away our paper maps because of how great this was. A pleasure to use for our section hike from LA to Yosemite.
