Google Hangouts ins’t very bad
I am a teenager and I don’t like school too, but it is very bad to judge an app when it ins’t that bad, yes I know sometimes it gets stuck sometimes the other person or you can’t see them or hear them, but think about this: you can’t blame an app because you don’t like school, instead just don’t conect and that’s it. And you might be thinking: you are saying pure crap, but people might be thinking “I better not discharge this app, like it haves 1.8 stars instead of 5, going to use zoom instead”, or things like that but it is not that bad, think well, if you go to clases and pay attention, you are going to be successful in life. I know this because I have a brother and he tells me to pay attention so I can enter to a good university and earn many money, to have a luxury house, to have a luxury car, etc. And if you have rich parents, think about this: you want your parents to keep you or make your own money your self. It’s your decision. I know, I am an idiot who tries to convince teenagers to pay attention or whatever, but maybe someday this will help you on life.
No. Just No
All right. You might think that this is just one of those reviews, written by the people who don’t want online school. And while yes, it is true I don’t want online school, this app just makes the whole thing worse. The audio quality is horrible, not to mention when more than a few people are on, the sound skips and glitches frequently. I was just on a class call, and no matter how many times I tried, the button for the camera wouldn’t work! My teacher showed us things on her computer, and the people whose apps wouldn’t work (everyone I talked to) were just listening to the teacher give a description of what we were supposed to be looking at. Also, at the very beginning when I first got on, there was a voice that said “you have been muted because there are many people on this call.” I understand that, but she only repeated the instructions on how to unmute yourself once. Something to do with a 6? I don’t know. If there was a way to give this app zero stars, I would.
I don’t hate online school, but I can’t stand this app.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the opportunity to do school online, but this platform is not the right tool for it. I have seen some people say that the video quality depends on the camera and microphones on the call, but that is not what’s causing the problem here. My physics class was using Zoom before the county made us switch over, and we had almost no problems on that platform. It was able to handle all of our phones and computers just fine, with relatively seamless audio and video transition. With this app, everything just fell apart. It does not feel like something that is designed to support an interactive class with a teacher and students having a discussion. I have no problem with online school, I do however, have a problem with not being able to hear my own teacher.
