From the makers of Pokémon GO, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the real-world augmented reality (AR) game inspired by the Wizarding World that puts magic in the hands of players worldwide. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is co-developed and co-published by Niantic, Inc. and WB Games San Francisco as part of Portkey Games, a label dedicated to creating new Wizarding World mobile and video games inspired by J.K. Rowling's original stories that place players at the center of their own adventure.

Realize Your Wizarding Potential
A calamity has befallen the wizarding world, causing Foundables—magical artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories—to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world. As a new recruit of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, you’ll work with witches and wizards from across the globe to solve the mystery of The Calamity and keep magic safe from Muggle eyes.

The Magic Is All Around You
As you step outside and explore the world, the Map will reveal Traces of magic that indicate the location of Foundables. These Traces are found at various real-world locations and trigger richly detailed 3D encounters in full 360-degree advanced AR. You’ll need to cast a variety of spells to defeat the confounding magic surrounding the Foundables in order to safely return them to the wizarding world. Keep an eye out for other things that will aid you on your journey including Inns that replenish Spell Energy, ingredients that can be used to brew potions, and even Portkeys that can whisk you away to iconic wizarding world locations.

Stronger United
Gather your friends to take on even bigger magical feats such as Wizarding Challenges, real-time cooperative multiplayer battles against dangerous foes. To overcome the stronger threats and discover rarer Foundables, you’ll need to team up and strategize with your fellow witches and wizards and specialize in different magical Professions—Auror, Magizoologist, and Professor—that each have their own unique skills and abilities that come in handy at different times.

Ready your wand, alert your friends, and be ready to protect the wizarding world from a global calamity. Your Wizarding adventure awaits!

Fantastic game, just two gripes

I love the game mechanics, I think they’re brilliant, especially the fight sequences. The UI is easy to understand and navigate, and collecting items and such is a breeze. Which brings me to my first bit of criticism; the vaults. I’ve had to pass up rare items just because my vault was full, so I constantly have to use coins to make more powerful potions. I just wish we could get at least 25 slots extra in a future update, even that would be a huge life saver. My second bit of criticism, which, I’m 100% positive has everyone irked, is the spell energy. The nearest inn to me is a half a mile away, and as a teenager who spends most days sleeping in, I don’t have the stamina to walk there. I kid you not when I say that I almost fainted on the walk back home because I was so desperate for spell energy. I shouldn’t have to pass out on the sidewalk for such a minuscule amount of spell energy. Some people are even more unlucky, with the nearest inn being 2+ miles away. I saw a suggestion in a review saying that there should be a potion for increasing spell energy, which a great idea! If we can have potions that increase spell power, why not spell energy? But I’m far too obsessed with Harry Potter to quit playing, and I’m positive Niantic understands that many players feel the same way and that’s why they won’t change. But I would be SO much more active in this if ONLY spell energy was easier to obtain and ingredients easier(?) to store.

Fun, but frustrating if you live outside the city

Overall, I like the concept of the game. But I have to agree with others who live in suburban or rural areas: it is extremely difficult to regain energy because the nearest greenhouses/inns are too far away to visit on a regular basis. There needs to be other ways to gain energy. Same goes for Spell Books that can only be gained through Wizarding Challenges- I can’t get them because I don’t live near Fortresses. And the greenhouse is basically useless for growing things I need, because they are all too far away to plant things and then revisit 15 hrs later.

Also, potions. If a potion is good for say, 5 spell casts in one battle, but I win the battle in one spell cast, the remaining spell casts should carry over to future battles. Otherwise spending hours brewing a single potion is a waste of time and ingredients.

It would also be nice to know (on screen) when entering a battle, whether or not I already have that complete item in Registry. It’s extremely difficult to remember each item, especially because some items are gained in fragments. For example if I need 12 fragments of Buckbeak but can’t remember if I completed him or not, I have to exit the battle and open my Registry to look up the information. I don’t always want to collect extras simply for experience points, because it wastes spell energy that I can’t replenish because the inns/greenhouses are too far away.

More energy

I love the game but I don’t like that you have to travel to greenhouses and stuff just to get energy. I’m not on the move all the time and I don’t understand why the energy can’t just refill itself with time. Even if it refilled with time only halfway that would still be cool. I know some challenges that you complete or goals can give you some energy but how can I complete them if I don’t have energy to begin with. I think it’s also a little unfair if you live out in the middle of nowhere and you have to drive like an hour to a greenhouse. It makes the game not fun. Or maybe every couple of hours you get energy that would be nice. A mini game you can play to earn energy. So far I can’t even play the game unless I’m willing to drive hours away to get energy. Also I get that you don’t want people driving while playing the game but that thing that pops up all the time when I’m playing the game telling me not to play and drive is annoying because sometimes the game freezes and then all the stuff around me disappears or because that message popped up I can’t collect the stuff around me because they timed out and disappeared. Also sometimes when I’m not even walking or moving at all that message still pops up that I’m going at a fast pace. It even pops up when I’m walking which is annoying. There should be someway to turn that message off.
