Hash Calculator is a simple application that can calculate file checksum(hash) using many common hash algorithms.
Hash Calculator 2 is here with a brand new UI and uses the power of modern macOS technologies. Hash Calculator 2 now supports macOS 26! It is currently support following hash algorithms:
- MD Family: MD2, MD4, MD5
- SHA1 and SHA2 Family: SHA1, SHA224, SHA256, SHA384, SHA512
- MD5 and SHA with HMAC: HMAC-MD5, HMAC-SHA1, HMAC-SHA224, HMAC-SHA256, HMAC-SHA384, HMAC-SHA512
- Base64 encode/decode for text
Following Hash Algorithms require Pro Upgrade:
- SHA3 Family: SHA3-224, SHA3-256, SHA3-384, SHA3-512, Keccak-224, Keccak-256, Keccak-384, KeccaK-512
- CRC Family: CRC8, CRC16, CRC32, CRC32C
More Pro features to come in later updates.
Beside that, this app can calculate hash for text contents; this app can also check whether two files are identical. Get file hashes in batch with batch mode! This app is great for check file integrity that downloaded from the internet.
Note: Hash Calculator 2 requires macOS 13 and up.

MacOS 26
suprajoe
I use this app for teaching hashing and HMAC, however it does not work with MacOS 26. PLEASE fix this. Only app that has those combined that I can use on my Mac.
Needs improvement
MC Ringbearer
I realize this is free, but still, here are some needed improvement. 1) You can compare two files, but you can’t compare against a known hash value that you paste. 2) The calculate button is redundant, once I select file, I should not have to press another button, what else is there to do but calculate? 3) App opens by default with MD5, SHA1 and SHA256 selected. If uncheck MD5 or SHA1 or whatever, app doesn’t remember, next time I open I have to unselect the same boxes OR select the ones that I want that are not one of the three default. Wasteful to calculate 3 values if you only need one and take more processing time, especially if the file is huge like an ISO disk image. 4) double clicking on a value to copy into the clipboard copies both the value AND the algorithm name, it really should only copy the value
Decent App
UpstateChris
It is a decent app. If the ability to compare two files is worth $1 to you than step up to this app over the couple dozen $.99 ones. Otherwise it doesnt really do anything unique. Like other hashing apps, my complaint is that you cannot hash a folder - only individual files and with this app two files at once to compare.
Does what I want it to do
Fishcake21
Many of thes checksum apps just spit out simple information and charges an arm and a leg, I guess they forgot that the main purpose for apps like this is to compare with other files.I like how the interace is simple and it does the job. My only complaint is the dragging system to compare files, have to drag 2 files at the same time from a same directory, Could you make it so you can drag individual files one by one so its much easier set up a check? If i could request something, perhaps give it the ability for a batch job :DMuchos gracias
What's New:
1. Japanese and Traditional Chinese Localization.
2. Pro Features brings SHA3 family and CRC family algorithms.
More new features will come to both Hash Calculator 2 and Pro Features in near future, stay tuned.
