Helga Deen, is a 32-page graphic novel with based on a true story created and directed by the international award-winning director Dario Picciau and award-winning writer Roberto Malini.

Helga Deen is an Holocaust Victim and the authoress of a diary, which is preserved today in the Regional Archive of Tilburg (Holland). She was in the final year of senior school in Tilburg when she and her family were arrested and deported to Vught on April 1st, 1943.

“We decided to dedicate a graphic novel to Helga Deen for the symbolic and educational value of her story, the story of her last night at Vught, when the german soldiers pulled hundreds of children from the sheds and sent them, in livestock wagons, to the gas chambers in Poland.

Helga Deen, like Anne Frank, has become a symbol of the Jewish girls and women of the Holocaust who in many cases sacrificed their own lives to ease the suffering of the most vulnerable people in the death camps.

Helga's story is a part of Humane Society's Heritage and today, more than ever, in a constantly changing world in which human values are being lost, it is important to remember it, in order to understand our present and to contribute to building a just and better future for the next generations". - Dario Picciau

Brings tears to my eyes

It almost made me cry. Though every one should read this and know how bad it was for people who were discriminated against in the holocaust truly a fate that none of those people deserved

Gorgeous Art And A Haunting And Moving Story.

Outside of the story in this app, I found the brilliant artwork to just be unbelievably beautiful. The sound is also of a real top quality and the way that the story is presented is very, very slick and professional.

The true story presented in this graphic novel, wow, so incredibly moving and at the same time so heart-wrenching, terrifying and sad. I feel very fortunate that I was not alive to witness the atrocities, the genocide, the true and unfettered evil of the Nazi's. But, that also does not mean that I would ever choose to not learn about the horrible and satanic evil that was perpetuated by the cruel, loathsome and evil German Nazi's. Those who foolishly deny or try to ignore this genocide are without a soul in my opinion.

Learning of the heinous evil that took place during this time period is even more important today considering the fact that the world faces an evil just as ruthless, satanic and evil as the Nazi's, in the Islamic terror group, ISIS. Their totalitarian and genocidal barbarism is just as horrific and terrible as the German Nazi's. They have butchered so many innocent men, women and children and we as a world need to do so much more to eradicate and exterminate every last member of this Islamic terror organization. To not see the blatant similarities between ISIS and the Nazi's is just either ignorance or stupidity in my opinion.

If you choose not to learn from the past you will only repeat it. I am surprised that this gripping and informative graphic/interactive novel does not have more downloads and reviews. In fact, I see no past or current reviews for this app at the time of me writing this review. But, nevertheless, I highly recommend this application on so many levels. At the very least you should download it just to see the amazing and gorgeous, yet dark, artwork and hear the haunting soundtrack. Hopefully you will also learn something in the process.

My hat off to the developers/artists/sound designers etc.. of this application. I think you have done a superb job at presenting this incredible and yet terribly sad story. I hope the hard work and effort put forth here reaches and educates so many more people about the unadulterated evils that took place during this time period. Thank you for sharing this story, I found it just as poignant as Anne Frank's story. Thanks again and God bless.
