Hide your Desktop for privacy, during presentations and while taking screenshots/recording video with a assignable hotkey or a click on the menu! Can also hide or remove the menu. Set individual or all Desktops to actual image or solid color.
Supports any number of attached monitors and even when adding or removing them!
For macOS 10.14 and later, fully supports Appearances (i.e. Dark Mode).
Can specify times for updating time changing Desktop pictures.

BUG FIX: Typing shortcut multiple times works as expected (set shortcut in System Settings...>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts...>Services>General>ToggleDesktop Icons).

Keyboard shortcut caveat
Seems to work as described. Pretty simple in that it just takes a screenshot of your desktop and overlays it on top of your icons, it doesn't actually make them toggle on/off.
Anyway, I found if you want to use the keyboard shortcut in "Services", it does work, but the caveat is you have to click on the desktop first for it to work. If you create a shortcut using the F5 key(for instance), you first have to physically click on the desktop, then push F5. With this in mind, it seems to work properly. Just wish I didn't have to remember to click on the desktop first.

backround freezes
this works great but i am using "mywallpaper" app that gives you moving backgrounds but when i use the hide icons my moving background freezes.

You could try setting Check for changing Desktop>5 seconds.
Simple and great!
I was looking for a solution to hide my icons during conference calls and screen sharing sessions and this app allows me to achieve that with just one right click from the menu bar! Thats amazing! Kudos for the developer of such a great app!
