I wonder who sent me a HipChat?
...Is what I ask myself every time I see the notification badge showing I received one. That little red badge showing the number of messages you received is so tantalizing. You click to open the app and bam!!! Let the guessing game begin. I have over 100 people I regularly HipChat with, trying to discover who sent me a HipChat in this app means clicking on every conversation and looking at the date and time of the last message received because:
UNBELIEVABLY HipChat DOES’T PUT AN INDICATOR WITHIN THE APP ON THE ACTAUL CHAT YOU RECEIVED A MESSAGE IN!!!!! WHAAAAAT??????
This means you must manually search every conversation until you find your new chats
No sort on the “people” header
drives. me. bananas. all other chat apps are able to sort the people you chat with either by alpha or recent convo, etc. Instead hipchat is a random mess. it also randomly removes recent people i’ve chatted with. ? why? why is one person there who i spoke with a year ago, but not the person i chat with 1x/week? It takes swipes and active scanning then realizing they are not on the list, then you must start a new chat, then typing in the name to find them, then open and type a message. simplest update! please! for desktop & mobile! I use other chat apps whenever possible just bc this one feature is so frustrating.
Use Slack instead
I have to access multiple teams on HipChat that are created by others. I have to use different email addresses for the different groups, and yes I have verified this Atlassian repeatedly. Not too bad an issue on a regular computer as I use the web app instead. However, on iOS the web app redirects me to the iOS app which is already in use on one of teams. iOS will not allow me to download a second copy of the app, and I cannot access the web app, so basically I have to figure which team I need to access most.
I really wish the team admins would use Slack.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
