Started by acclaimed actor (and closet drummer) Joseph Gordon-Levitt more than 10 years ago, HITRECORD is a positive community, a radically inclusive production company, and a platform for collaborative creativity.
Find a project that inspires you, and jump in.
■ Writing, Photography, Voice Acting, Filming, On Camera, Visual Art, Music, Editing, Animation
■ Quick and simple Creative Prompts to get you started right away
■ Collaborate on Short Films, Short Documentaries, Animated Shorts, Songs, Audio Stories, Illustrated Stories, Photo Series, or Customize your own project.
■ Project Tools help break down your process into manageable Steps, gather Contributions, Update your collaborators, and celebrate your finished piece.
■ Download anything. Everything is up for grabs to be remixed.
■ Contribute to high-profile productions. Our community has won an Emmy for our variety show HITRECORD on TV, screened short films at Sundance, published books with Harper Collins, partnered with non-profits like the ACLU and the National Parks, produced a commercial that played on the World Series, and of course, more! If and when any production makes money, contributors are paid through our unique, personal, and transparent payment process.
Being an artist on HITRECORD is not about getting Likes or amassing Followers. It’s about the joy of the creative process itself. Social networks do not have to be popularity contests. Digital technology can bring us together to accomplish things we couldn’t do alone.
Are we recording?
*Stories, the HITRECORD way
See the wonderful art made by the people you follow. We do our “stories” a bit differently. We want everyone to see your art so all your contributions will automatically add to your story. Don’t worry, they won’t disappear after 24 hours
*Latest Activity of Projects
Stay in-the-know with a “brief” of what’s new in a project since you’ve been gone.

This app is wonderful
I love this app, it helps the world get in touch with each other. It helps others join up with others they would never have seen in their life time and make art. It helps us get our points across, our visions come alive, and our deepest darkest stories and poetry be read by more than just ourselves. I thank Daniel Gordon- Levitt so much for working on this since 2002. All the work he put into this and he doesn't even know the world he helped create. He tried to put a point out there and it was instead of working alone why not work together. I never knew him but I love him and I will always wonder what he was like. I'm thankful to Joseph Gordon-Levitt for spending his time on this project and keeping it alive. Long as he keeps it alive he keeps his brother alive. I know that is how he must feel. Well thank you Joe and Dan, you guys are my heros. Peace and love to you both, and to me, Dan is very much alive. He just transcended, and he lives in all of us. Thank you Joe for being a wonderful brother, Director, father, husband, son, actor, (dancer) and mentor... 1Love1heart ❤️X❤️X❤️X❤️X❤️
I posted this review to my social media. I love this app!
So this whole stuck at home thing has had me going stir crazy. I joined twitter and it’s been able to occupy me a little, I’m following Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who I adore) and he started this amaaaazing app called HitRecord. It’s an interactive platform for creatives with themes for you to contribute to (so no worry about creative block) and multiple means with steps included to contribute!! For instance, one project will have a poem, it will ask that you read the poem and do a voice recording, create an animation, add to the poem or make a movie about it. I mean for someone bored and creative this app is quarantine GOLD!!! My daughter and I are both using it, it is so cool to see how we can look at the same thing and her creative mind goes a completely different direction than mine. If you’re a creative, give this app a go! It’s amazeballs!!
HR veteran with a few words
The app is ok. But impossible to throw up new records that have no ties to existing projects like the website still allows users to do so on the platform. It makes really not want to contribute or share records I have thought about posting because all the app does is allow you to post on the app if you start from the project main page that describes the project. The website I will still use to post once in a while but the only thing that the app is actually useful it seems is to see a large library of records that I wished categorized things by year and user on top of what’s already there. Finding records is impossible unless you’re using record numbers that are assigned to each record like website urls to each record. I still like the platform and the community but there are things that could be better. Still great for what it is but it doesn’t keep me compelled to contribute just because it’s frustrating to upload from a website but the app just isn’t fluid in comparison
