Best and most comprehensive beekeeping app
I have tried all of the beekeeping apps on iPhone, but HiveTracks has the best and most comprehensive features. The folks behind HiveTracks are also super responsive in answering my questions.
Buzzing about Hive Tracks!!
I am new to beekeeping and this app has been great to help keep track of two hives! It makes keeping track of hives simple and ends of compiling tons of info that I would eventually forget over time. Hive Tracks will even sync with your weather and location and automatically input the weather conditions at the time of day in the the location of your inspection per GPS coordinates. It is really advanced and easy to use. In my opinion Hive Tracks is easiest to update and setup through the website, the app is mostly good for inspections and reviewing past information. Hive Tracks is amazing a great program for tracking beehives and if used correctly it creates an awesome tale for an experienced beekeeper. The app is and added bonus for and easy mobile device use, if you have multiple hives this is app is a must!
Needs some work
I’ve used this program (website version) since it was being beta-tested, and it has a lot of handy features.
Pros: all hive info in one place.
Reminds me to enter pollen/honey reserve levels. Can track honey harvest totals, etc. Can import weather data. Can take all my data home with me, as I am not an organized individual.
Cons: Inconsistent in saving your data. This is big. It is so frustrating to have taken tons of notes that it somehow didn’t save. Too expensive, doesn’t do much that can’t be done with a log book or excel, honey/propalis/bee gloves make using a phone in the bee yard impractical. Interface NOT intuitive. New features make reviewing old data difficult, and the calendar feature is used for reminders, but you can’t review anything except day by day. A lot of features that computers can do well, like graphing, calculating and finding relationships, this just doesn’t do. And the help answers the question “Can I download my data to a .cvs file?” Yes, but doesn’t tell you how.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
