在我們身處的這個彈丸之地，竟然發現了超過 260 種的蝴蝶。在一般情況下，我們只會分出它們是蝴蝶與否。有些對蝴蝶較有認識的人，更可以說出它們屬於哪一個品種。可是，面對這麼多的種類，有些更是很少見到或與其他品種十分相似。單憑記憶實在有點困難。因此，這程式歸納了現有在香港被發現的蝴蝶品種，以參考圖片和簡短的特徵介紹，並把相似的品種歸類，希望可以提供一個有效的方法幫助辨別。另外，此程式也可以記錄在個別戶外考察中發現的品種。
