Home Scan - Connected Home Security Scanner 4+

A VERY disappointing network scanner...

I am running OS 10.13.6 on a Mac Book Pro (2015): Home Scan crashes and gets caught in a loop when requesting a Network Report. Rather than sitting and waiting for the Report, I figured that I’d go get a cup of coffee (as the Report takes incredibly long while attempting to generate) and upon my return Home Scan has “hung up” each time. Note that I have rebooted my computer with no effect. Other issues with the software include not showing a device MAC address at the top level of the interface — you must dig into each connected device’s menu (each is primarily identified by IP address and this cannot be changed). Four subsequent scans from the same location within SECONDS showed 6 different device counts (count went up, down, up and then up) — and numerous devices were NOT being powered on/off during this time. Interestingly enough, the Home Scan help menu item simply denotes “Help is not available for Home Scan” which is quite tellilng. This software, while billed as a "simple and intuitive” solution for those of us with little Network knowledge does not work and does nothing to help. My home has a decent number of Smart Things and this software was intended to be my "handy helper” in diagnosing and keeping track of my Network. I should have realized that the last time it was updated was in 2016, but unfortunately I did not see that before purchasing, this software has been nothing but a waste of $5.99. Final rating: CANNOT RECOMMEND.
