Description

In 1888, when Hawai‘i was still a monarchy, King Kalakaua commissioned a magazine under royal charter to be Hawai‘i’s ambassador to the world. That magazine was Paradise of the Pacific. In 1966, Paradise of the Pacific became HONOLULU Magazine and shifted focus dramatically. No longer would it just promote local business and tourism to the United States. It became a magazine by and for the people of the Islands. Today, HONOLULU is among the handful of publications in the U.S. that have chronicled the events of an entire century. It is, in fact, the longest established magazine west of the Mississippi and the only monthly city magazine in the state of Hawai‘i….and it continues today. Every month Honolulu residents rely on HONOLULU magazine for revealing profiles, discerning dining and cultural guides, in-depth features, informed commentary and authoritative Best-of lists.

Doesn't work

Aloha. I had used the app for over a year with no problems and then it abruptly quit loading both new and existing issues after January 1, 2017. Email responses from Pacific Basin claim a vague IT issues with no definitive date of resolution. If you subscribe, you'll be reading about Honolulu in physical form only for the foreseeable future.

Still does not load new issues without....

...deleting and downloading the app again. No offline reading and portrait mode for pictures that span two pages. The ZINIO version was much better, should’ve gone back to them.

Please update to support iPad Pro 11

Otherwise good magazine
