Effortlessly take control of your day with Hour Blocks, a day planner app that’s both simple and beautiful. Whether you’re a student, a small business owner, or even a full-time parent, Hour Blocks is the organisational tool that’s missing from your day-to-day life.

FOCUS ON YOUR DAY
Hour Blocks presents a chronological timeline of your next 24 hours, allowing you to focus on what’s truly next, rather than crowding you with anything and everything you have coming up in your life. You can even take advantage of the new iOS 14 home screen with the Hour Blocks widget to show you what's coming up next.

MINIMAL EFFORT, MAXIMUM CONVENIENCE
Simply tap on an Hour Block, type in what you have planned, and you’re done- with a nice icon automatically generated for you. Over time you’ll also start seeing suggested hour blocks based on your previous activity, making the experience even more effortless. You don’t have to abandon using the Calendar app either, as Hour Blocks automatically pulls in events from your calendar.

A SATISFYING EXPERIENCE
Every part of the Hour Blocks experience has been developed to make it as satisfying as possible for you to use. From the playful language to the laid back colour scheme, organising your day doesn’t feel like a chore.

Needs more customization

The core blocks should be by the hour like you said in your response to a previous review. I agree with that. But there should be a “+” button that allows you to drop a block in between the hour blocks (that look exactly the same as the hour blocks) but that you can choose the time. I understand you want to keep the app simple looking (which you should and is the only reason I want to use it) but you have to remember no one plans their day only based on using the start of each hour. It’s unrealistic and makes the concept of time planning pointless if you’re only going to have only the start of each hour to base things on. You have the start of a great app but it needs more work. Make it more customizable without making it complicated. I would recommend following a similar concept to the app “Things.” Now hurry up and add customizable times so I can use the app properly as I’m sure a lot of other people would like to as well and you’ll have a 75% better app just by doing that. Thanks

Great Idea. Missing one feature! Question for the developer.

This is a fantastic app and a great idea. I only wish that it would sink back to my Google calendar. Maybe I’m just nervous and cannot figure the feature out so if the developer reads this post please tell me how to make it work. Otherwise it is an incredibly simple idea with a simple and easy to use interface that makes blocking out time on your calendar is very doable. I enjoy this much more than going into the calendar on Google or even going into another app to manage my calendar, and having to fill out 1 million different fields just to block time or could get work done.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback and the kind words! Although there is no direct support in app for Google Calendar (it's being worked on), you can add your Google Calendar in the Settings app under 'Passwords & Accounts', then Hour Blocks will recognise it 😁 I hope your positive experience continues throughout future updates!

Maybe I’m Missing Something....

I was hopeful this would be a great app to help with time blocking. I saw it promoted on iMore and while it looks pretty clean, what you see is what you get. In other words, there isn’t much functionality beyond what you see. Drag and drop isn’t a feature which the developer explains in his blog but nonetheless leaves me feeling let down. It integrates my other iCloud calendars but it doesn’t schedule around them. It shows the events but I still have empty spaces in the Hour Blocks section of the schedule. I would think the app would recognize scheduled events and not leave ‘empty’ spaces when I have events. I see a lot of potential with this app but it’s not very usable for my in its current state. I’m not trying to be negative but I do want to be honest for others looking for an app that takes advantages of all the iOS API’s and feature sets. This app misses the mark and since there is no ‘trial’ or any real video of actual usage of the interface, you might find it wasn’t the best usage of you money to find out how it works.

Developer Response ,

Thank you, I really appreciate the honest and detailed feedback. In all honesty, I've found a lot of people feeling like either they love the app and it's the perfect level of simplicity for them, or others like yourself who like the concept but feel it's too simple for them. I do wish Apple would provide developers with the ability to offer free trials for paid apps. Adding a video on the App Store listing has been a priority for a while, but of course I want to get it right first. If you have any more feedback, please feel free to reach out on Twitter (@j_t_saeed) and if you feel like you didn't get your money's worth, you can request a refund from Apple.

Thanks again,
James
