HUD SONiC: Pilot Logbook
ADS-B Flight Log & Pilot Jobs
Only for iPhone
Free
Log a flight from its flight number with ADS-B data, then export your logbook in the layout your authority uses. Free, with nothing to unlock.
HUD SONiC is a free pilot logbook for professional pilots. Enter your flight number and HUD SONiC fills in the details from ADS-B flight data. When you need it, export your logbook in your authority's format.
LOG A FLIGHT FROM ITS FLIGHT NUMBER
• Enter the flight number and choose your flight. Route, times, aircraft type and registration are filled in from ADS-B data where available.
• Flight number search comes with a monthly allowance, and not every flight has ADS-B data. You can always log a flight by hand.
• Record your role (PIC, SIC, PICUS), night and instrument time, and landings.
YOUR AUTHORITY'S LOGBOOK FORMAT
• Export a PDF in the logbook layout used for EASA, FAA, CASA, TCCA, JCAB or SACAA.
• Keep one record and produce the form your authority expects.
BRING YOUR HISTORY WITH YOU
• Import from supported logbook apps, or enter your previous totals by hand.
• See your grand totals by aircraft type, role and category, and your monthly hours at a glance.
SEE WHERE YOUR EXPERIENCE CAN TAKE YOU
• Browse pilot jobs from airlines around the world.
• Compare a job's requirements with the experience in your logbook.
FREE, WITH NOTHING TO UNLOCK
Unlimited logging. No plan to choose, no features held back.
BUILT BY PILOTS AND A PILOT RECRUITER
Pilots know what it takes to record every flight. A recruiter knows how airlines read a logbook. HUD SONiC brings both together.
Every flight becomes a chapter.

Flight Stats
• A world map of every route you've flown, with your total time, flights, distance, airports and aircraft types.
• Top Destinations, Top Routes, and your distance as laps around the Earth, the Moon and the Sun.
• Look at all time, any year you've flown or a range you choose.
Share your journey
• Turn your routes into an image in one of four colour themes, then share it to Instagram Stories, save it to Photos or send it anywhere. Each Flight Stats section can be shared as a card too.
Logbook
• Long-press a flight to preview it, share it or delete it.
• Year in Flight: switch between this year, Monthly and Yearly.
• Flight search shows times in your time zone, the day's scheduled flights, airline logos and OUT / OFF / ON / IN times.
Log entry
• Solo is now entered by hand in every logbook format, and is shown by default when you're PIC.
• Crew: Flying / Monitoring, Operation (Multi / Single) and Flight instructor are now quick two-way choices.
• Time Breakdown: show, hide and reorder fields, and choose what each one is filled in with. Your choices are remembered for each role.
• Fields you rarely need for your format and role are hidden to start with. Fields you've already shown or hidden keep your choice.
Also new
• A refreshed sign-up, with new sky backgrounds throughout.
Fixes
• Picking a registration suggestion now closes the keyboard.

What's new in 1.2.8
Simulator time kept apart
• Total Flight Time no longer includes simulator sessions, in every logbook format. The same goes for your other totals and your take-off and landing counts.
• Grand Totals now ends with a Simulator section showing your number of sessions and their total time.
Quicker log entry
• Day and Night have their own sliders (CASA, TCCA and SACAA formats). Night follows the total minus Day until you move it yourself.
• Type times as digits: 314 becomes 3:14. "Set" fills in the total in one tap and moves to the next field.
• Enter operation and approach counts straight from the keyboard.
• Type the approach type and pick it from the suggestions.
• Suggestions now open below the field and stay above the keyboard. Remarks suggests what you wrote on past flights.
• More room on screen: the top bar scrolls away with the form.
Flights with no role
• If a flight's role is missing (for example, an imported training flight), it now shows "Not set" instead of being saved as PIC.
Fixes
• Bulk Edit opens again when the selected flights have different crew (CASA and TCCA formats).
• Picking a Remarks suggestion no longer jumps to the Simulator tab.
1.2.8 Oct 9
New
• Your route network on the Home map: see every route you have flown, and switch the full-screen map between a flat view and a globe.
• Year in Flight: switch between Monthly and Yearly.
• Job search: the Flight Time and Salary Range filters show how many jobs sit at each value, with a slider to pick your range.
• Job details show the aircraft when a type rating is required.
• FROM / TO accept IATA codes (SAW) as well as ICAO codes (LTFJ), in upper or lower case.
• Import from the CrewLounge website: choose the .json file exported from My CrewLounge.
• Import Logbook shows each app's logo, with separate tabs for importing from an app and entering paper logbook totals.
• Asking for import help? Attach your log files, and pick the reply address from your sign-in accounts.
• Tap the status bar to scroll back to the top. Tap the Career tab again to do the same.
Improvements and fixes
• SACAA: the simulator FSTD Actual and FSTD Instrument sliders and − / + buttons now work, and FSTD Actual fills in from TOTAL TIME. Simulator logs saved earlier show FSTD Actual 0:00; open them, set the time and save. PICUS day / night time is now saved.
• CASA, TCCA, EASA and SACAA: times and totals stay as they were when you edit and save a flight, including imported, helicopter and Co-Pilot flights.
• TCCA: Cross Country is one day / night entry for every role.
• FAA: Simulated instrument (Hood) time is kept when you edit a flight.
• JCAB: "Solo or SIC" is now "SIC".
• Totals for every logbook format are now calculated by our server, so future fixes to the rules can correct flights you have already saved.
• Edit Flight shows Try Again when a flight cannot be loaded.
• Selection sheets: Done works when you keep the current choice.
• Dark mode: menus and suggestions stand out from the background.
Design
• Refreshed colours: navy, cobalt blue and a warm white background.
1.2.7 Oct 7
Career made for you
• Companies for You and Job Matches now lead the Career tab, picked from your profile, licences and flight hours. Open a list to change the order: companies by For You or Popular, jobs by Best Match or Newest.
Faster logging
• New Flight suggests values from your past logs under each field: FROM, TO, flight number, aircraft type, registration, crew names and remarks. Suggestions are ranked by how often and how recently you used them and narrowed by what you have already entered. Pick one and the cursor moves to the next field. They also work offline.
Your first flight, guided
• If your logbook is empty, a short guided tour walks you through a practice entry, from tapping + to saving, then removes it for you.
Also in this version
• A light tap when a page opens, consistent across the app.
• Pages opened from the Logbook side menu appear as the menu closes.
• The notification prompt no longer comes back at every launch once you close it.
• The Home map recovers on its own if it loses its connection.
• Install and sign-up measurement (AppsFlyer) that follows your Data Sharing setting, and campaign links that open the app directly.

New
- Share a job. Job details now have a share button. The link opens the job in the app on a device that has HUD SONiC, and on the web otherwise. The save button moved to the bottom, next to "View Job Posting".
- Airline "Other". If your airline isn't on the list, pick "Other" (always the last row) and type its name. It shows on your profile and licence card.
- Two ways to reach us from Import Logbook. If your logbook app isn't on the list, use "Import from Another App" to tell us which one you use. If an import fails, the Import Failed screen now has "Contact Support" - the details are attached automatically, so you only need to leave an email address.
- Onboarding. New accounts are asked how they keep their logbook today (app, spreadsheet, paper, or none). Choosing your position is now a row of photos you swipe through; the same picker is in Profile > Position.
- Year in Flight is now a bar chart of your monthly hours.
- Home gestures. Touch the map with two fingers to open the full-screen map. Pulling the numbers and cards up now settles at either the closed or the open position instead of stopping halfway.
- Clearer flight search errors. When the flight number or date is the problem, the message tells you what to fix.
Fixes
- The unread dot on the Home bell now clears once you've read everything.
- In notification settings, the per-type switches turn grey when the main switch is off.
- EASA: with the PICUS role, PIC now follows total flight time.
- The log form no longer suggests arrivals to auto-fill from, and several input issues in the form were fixed.
- iPad: in onboarding, the License Type field and the last type-rating choice were hidden behind the Next button. They can now be scrolled to, and the licence card no longer overflows.
- Job lists load faster.
1.2.5 Sep 28
- No flights yet? Import your existing logbook straight from the Logbook screen.
- RosterBuster is now listed as "RB Pilot Logbook" in Import Logbook.
1.2.2 Sep 24
New in 1.2.1
- SACAA (South Africa) is now supported: logging, PDF export and CSV import.
- RosterBuster import. Choose which timezone the CSV was exported with (UTC or BASE). Duty rows such as Positioning and Standby are listed separately from rows that could not be read.
- Push notifications. Tapping a notification opens the right screen, and Profile > Notifications reflects your device setting.
- Notifications can be opened from the bell at the top right of Home.
- If your logbook is empty, Home offers to import it.
- Cross Country for EASA, CASA and SACAA. Hidden by default; turn it on from the Time Breakdown visibility settings.
- Logbook search filters: period, aircraft or simulator, and role.
- Add today's flight from the top of the logbook list.
- Swipe right anywhere on the logbook to open the side menu.
- The sign-in screen shows which method you used last time.
- Export & Print: formats are grouped by authority, the default period is the last 3 months, and a timezone can be chosen for every format.
- Previous Experience: values are typed inline and you can set an "As of" date. CrewLounge imports let you sort carried-over rows into flight or simulator and combine them into one entry.
- Import review: unmatched aircraft types and airports can be matched to our database.
Fixes
- Email confirmation no longer leads to a dead end.
- The calendar no longer appears all grey on first open.
- List rows no longer sit against the home indicator.
- Logs without departure or arrival times no longer show UTC.
- Bulk Edit no longer hangs when you have no logs.
1.2.1 Sep 23
Career
- Search now opens as a sheet. Tapping the search box on the Career home no longer pushes a new screen: a sheet slides up where you pick Jobs or Companies, set your filters, and Search takes you to the results.
- The Career home is a single screen. The Jobs / Companies tabs are gone. Companies scroll sideways above the New Jobs list, and the heading fades away as you scroll so only the search box stays pinned at the top.
- Companies can be filtered by base country, airline type, and whether they are currently hiring.
- Results keep loading as you scroll. Long result lists no longer stop part-way through.
- Company pages have been rebuilt with Overview and Insights tabs, plus Fleet, Bases and Destinations sections, each with its own detail sheet and a full-screen map of the bases. Insights is still gathering data and shows a placeholder for now.
Logbook
- AIR TIME has been added next to BLOCK TIME on the take-off / landing row. It is worked out from your take-off and landing times, and you can also type it in yourself. If your value disagrees with the calculated one, you get the same warning and Reset as BLOCK TIME. It is saved for all five authorities.
- Warnings on flight logs. Missing entries show a red triangle under the card; an aircraft or airport that could not be matched to the master data shows a grey info mark.
- A Warnings view in the side menu lists only the flights that need attention.
- Normal flights with no Block Time are now flagged as incomplete.
Importing a logbook
- The preview is split into Summary and Logs. Summary shows the totals worked out on the server: total flight time, flights, simulator sessions, the time breakdown, take-offs and landings. Logs lists every flight, newest first.
- Edit or drop rows before importing. Tap a row to correct it, swipe left to leave it out. The counts update as you go.
- Filter chips: All, Warning, Notice, Simulator and Bulk Entry.
- The date handle on the preview's scrollbar no longer sits under your finger while dragging.
Previous experience
- Carry-over totals are a list now. Manual entries and imported ones sit together, newest closing date first, and you can add as many as you need. Each row shows where it came from (BULK ENTRY or the service name) and the date it is counted up to.
- Fixed a crash when opening the calendar in a logbook that only contained carry-over totals.
Map
- Airport markers have been redrawn. They looked blurry because they were being drawn at a single pixel density regardless of the screen; they are now rendered at your device's density.
- Departure and arrival are marked separately. On the Home map, the two ends of the flight you are looking at get take-off and landing markers, and always stay in front of the other flights.
- Job and company maps show only the airport that screen is about, instead of every airport in the area.
