Description

• Hygge Stories are interactive children’s stories.
• Everything is hand drawn and handwritten.
• The child is the main character. All the way through Hygge Stories the child makes simple choices, thereby participating in forming the story. That way, you can get a new story every time and you can talk about the choices made.
• There are small learnings and themes in Hygge Stories such as friendship, shapes, fruits, vegetables, seasons, weather and feelings. That way you can choose the topic that best matches what currently interests the child in daily life.
• The characters are all the animals, you can think of.
• Hygge Stories are perfect for storytelling, reading aloud, bedtime stories and dialogic reading. They are a great way to combine “the good old stuff” with the digital. We are living in the digital age, and these stories can help turn on imagination without having to turn off what currently draws us. They are traditional content in a modern format.
• Hygge Stories’ expression is human, relatable, real, and honest, and they inspire kids to draw. They show that “not perfect” is ok – Hygge Stories are deliberately imperfect. My own 3 kids draw a lot more after I have introduced Hygge Stories.
• I love to read with my kids - the peace and contemplation it brings in a busy weekday. Hygge Stories are a pedagogically sound alternative to regular books. It is not a question of either or, but rather of having both…
• Hygge Stories can help create healthy digital habits. “Screen time” can be so much more than passive entertainment. With Hygge Stories the screen is a facilitator for what goes on around the screen, namely dialogue and “hygge” (a Danish word for everything that’s cozy, warm and “feel-good”).
• Appetite for reading and reading skills are falling, which has consequences for children’s language, and thereby social abilities, ability to make friends and express feelings…
• At an early age, and in a fun and playful manner, Hygge Stories can strengthen the appetite for reading, language and creativity…
• Reading and dialogue breed words, and language breeds community….

Hygge Stories is directly from me (a mother of four kids) to other parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, caretakers and their kids. I hope the stories will contribute to hygge in many places, at any time of day - in kindergarten, preschool, school, at grandparents’ houses or at home, for a quiet and close time or as good night reading. Siblings can also read along and practice their reading. With many kids in a household, you only need 1 bedtime story with Hygge Stories :-).

Best Regards,
Lisa Gram Forsberg (and kids :-))

Wow

I like it because it is so much fun to just read and chose what happens. And you get to be the character basically. I bet when I see my little cousin again, she would love this. It would help he fall asleep if she had a sleepover. She is. My best friend/cousin. It is nice to have her. And he little sister to.

Fun interactive reading app for kids

This is a fun and interactive reading app for younger kids. The drawings are cute and colorful. It’s fun for the kids to be part of choosing the direction of the story. Highly recommend it.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the recommendation. I’m glad you like the drawings and colors. There is a lot of soul put into each and every one :-)...Best regards, Lisa

Cute but needs tweaks

Stories are pretty cute. There are some spelling errors which is frustrating as a parent with children learning to read. And at least one storyline has proven to be slightly inappropriate (banana as pretend pen*s, and apricot in front of female character crotch). Overall the idea is awesome, I just wish I didn’t have to edit the stories on the fly while I read them aloud.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Next version I will change the banana-joke. It was in no way meant to be offensive. Most kids I know make jokes like that. Honestly, I actually considered it, when I published it, but Nord (one of my kids) thought it was funny :-). My Hygge Stories are made with my kids for other kids. Hope you will continue reading them :-)...Kind regards, Lisa

14th of November: The new version is here, and the joke has been changed. I assure you, all the storylines are cute and funny...Again, I develop these Hygge Stories together with my kids, so there is a lot of family soul in them :-)...Kind regards, Lisa

May 4th:

Hi again. Could you please remove your comment? It was a misunderstanding and I made a change immediately. Since your comment I have had almost no sales. I am a mother of 3 with a small business, dependent on the success of Hygge Stories, which is a soulful product for kids filled with heart and good intentions. It’s sad to keep being punished for a small misunderstanding...Kind regards, Lisa
