Tastiness if only a tap away! Use the Camp Chef app to connect to your WIFI/Bluetooth enabled pellet grill. You’ll be able to set and monitor temperatures, adjust smoke levels, and shut down your grill from your mobile device.
Monitor your cook
Actively monitor the temperature of your grill and meat probes on your phone. Set and enable pop-up notifications for grill timers or once meat probe goal temperatures have been met. Have the ability to connect and monitor your grill from anywhere, as if you were standing beside your grill.
Your data stored on all your devices
By creating an account through the Camp Chef app, your grill’s cook data is available to you at all times on all your mobile devices. Seamlessly switch between multiple Camp Chef grills. Historical cook graphs (coming soon) will allow you to view the results of a specific cook over time. These graphs will grant you access to information and insights allowing you to view what went well and what you would change.

Figure out your app
After the recent update I cannot change the temp or smoke setting from my phone. Whenever I open the app it defaults the the standby screen and the temp that the grill was when I turned it on. It will return to the current temp setting but whenever I try to make a change it will switch back to the standby screen and not change the smoke or temp setting and default back to the original temp set on the controller at startup.
Worked once. Nightmare since.
I was delighted to try out this app when I used my grill for the first time. Worked just fine. Since then, my grill attempted an update after connecting to this grill, and since then I have been unable to connect this app. I have tried reinstalling the app, a hard restart of the grill to no avail. The app will say “Found new Grill” and just give the spinning wheel of death from that point.
Assuming I receive support after my request for assistance, I hope to revise this review. In the meantime, I have no way of knowing if I am dealing with a problem with the grill or the application
Update! I found the problem. It seems if I went to my Bluetooth devices in my iPhone settings, did “forget this device”, that the problem was solved. Maybe a later update will fix that issues. So far I am optimistic that the app will work now as expected
Good. But room to improve.
First I love that I was able to retro fit a WiFi controller on a prior model. That said there are a couple improvements I would like to see. Connectivity outside the home has some quirks. I saw there were connectivity issues addressed in the latest app update but I haven’t tested them to see if they address the issue I had. I was nearby watching my son play basketball and I lost connectivity and could not resume it remotely. Not a huge deal, but I hope it’s addressed in the latest update.
I would also really like to have graphing. I find graphing is the easiest way to detect “the stall.” Is it a killer if it isn’t there? No. But I would like it. For both probes and pit temps.
Last I cannot stand the app doesn’t use the built in Apple keyboard. Instead it uses a proprietary keyboard that is not very responsive and just annoying to use.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
