Gruvi is a portable recording studio in an app. You are the producer, auditioning different recording artists to suit your style while making your own version of our first song- Roots. Tap a part like drums to be able to browse through our community of drummers and sample each one by dragging them into the mix in real-time. You are able to tweak each track with levels, panning, and EQ (more effects coming soon). When your mix is ready you can share it on social media and if it becomes the most popular mix we will publish it in places like iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify where you get a share of the profits.
You can also be a recording artist. Use the Gruvi app to record yourself singing or playing an instrument to Roots. Your recording then becomes available to the community where producers can use it in their mixes and just like with producers if your recording is part of a published mix then you are eligible for a share of the profits, so be sure to share any mixes with your recordings on your social feeds.
Version 1.0 features:
- Recording with the ability to mute/solo the backing tracks in your headphones while you record.
- Support for headphone microphones as well as iOS supported audio interfaces.
- Compose mixes by layering in recordings from different recordings.
- Adjust the volume, panning and EQ for each track.
- Audition different performances in real-time by tapping or dragging recordings.
- Drag up to remove a part from a mix.
- Mixes can be viewed on our Facebook page.
- This release features one song (Roots), stay tuned for more!

Bringing musicians and singers together to do what they love = win-win
Such a great concept for musicians and singers to record themselves and possibly get mixed into a new song. Excited to see what all Gruvi does for artist.
Is it though?
I admit the app is a great to bring artist together. But the promise of potentially being published by using other people’s work is a bit odd. Who’s to say that the app user gets all the credit for sampling others work? Since it is a fairly new app I’m not here to bash and call it terrible I think it needs more work and perhaps clarification on what the actual objective is. Is it a music maker by creating your own sound with other peoples talents? Is the one song going to become popular just because it sounds different than what others made it sound? The app has potential to be great 100% but like I said needs a major adjustment. Also needs a slight better user interface I kind of got lost using it. Anyways great ambition by the creator/creators. Major kudos
Developer Response ,
Thank you for downloading the app and thank you for the feedback! You are right, and we are working on making the user interface easier to understand and provide better clarification on how the whole system works for getting published.
Sampling other people's copyrighted material would be a violation of our terms of service. We will remove any content that is uploaded to our platform if the person uploading does not have rights/clearance.
To clarify our objective: We are creating a new way to make music by getting many people to put their own personal flavor on the song (one song for now, more coming). This will allow many different possible mixes of the song to be created. Not all of them will be great, but the ones that are will become the candidates for publishing. We are working with songwriters who wish to have their songs recorded and produced by the Gruvi community.
