The Mystery Tree is a fun way to learn about the animals on Edisto Island. Each of the featured twelve months highlights an animal that is native to this South Carolina island and just might be passing by this tree. (Plus 3 bonus animals) The Mystery Tree also introduces a secret surrounding this lone tree in the Edisto Island marsh.
Delicate watercolor illustrations by Dorothy Keach detail the whimsical decorations which have mysteriously appeared on the tree. Light-hearted themes and appealing animals pair with sweet rhymes to showcase each month. Dorothy's masterful paintings evoke the shifting palette of colors in the Edisto Island skies and marshes as the seasons change.
Candace Keach joins her mother, Dorothy, to write many of the poems and oversee the sound production. Candace, Dorothy and friends provide all the sound effects which are fun and easy for children to imitate! In addition, several of the months inspired Candace and Dorothy to include their own recordings of flute and piano!
This e-book is designed for all ages. Younger readers will enjoy hearing Dorothy read the poems aloud as only a former grade school teacher can! Older readers will begin to read along and will enjoy learning about the animals. Everyone will enjoy the delightful artwork, music, sounds, mystery and hidden surprises.
We look forward to seeing you on Edisto Island!

Ratings and Reviews
I couldn't wait to open this app with my grand nieces and nephews after purchasing recently. My 8 year old niece was especially drawn to the book with its interactive format. She enjoyed listening to the former school teacher, author and illustrator read the story as she also read along. She eagerly awaited each month, to see how the tree would be decorated as well as listen to the sound effects. Plus the bonus of learning about some of the native animals really intrigued her. She said the book was cool and her favorite month was October. Well done!
I have seen this Mystery Tree!
Wow! Wow! Wow! What a beautiful, magically written and narrated story of the mystery tree! Everyone should visit Edisto Island and see this mystery tree adorned with the trimmings for the month. On your visit to this special place, make sure you search for the creatures that are described! This book is uniquely illustrated, playful, intriguing and with a charming message of love and learning for the creatures in this area. The music and background sounds are exquisitely done. My 4 year old granddaughter and I play it over and over again! We love this interactive story! Great job!
