MendelTone is a portable sound evolution app. The MendelTone synthesizer is a virtual modular synth optimized for mobile platforms, and features a flexible patch topology with basic modules such as oscillators and delays.
Using a proprietary variant of the genetic algorithm based loosely on the work of Charles Darwin and Gregor Mendel, this app allows you to search the space of possible synth tones using preferential selection and patch breeding, while hearing the results in real time.
It's an "augmented creativity" tool which allows creation of cool sounds with no knowledge at all of modular synthesizers!
- Enables writing presets to MendelTone documents directory so they are auto-loaded (iOS).
- Updated documentation to include instructions for receiving shared presets.
- Removed Import/Export menu options on iOS.

Holy crap this is good!
At first I wasn’t sure what I had let myself in for, but after 10 minutes or so I was hooked on nudging the app towards ever more inventive sound collages.
Incredible potential for creating loops, generating noise and just about anything else you can think of.
Secret modular synth
This baby is a golden unicorn of synthesis. It is illegal for an app this cheap to be this good. I’m not even gonna suggest midi as I can see this as it is, no sync but good don’t try to sync brilliant noise. It can save and breed and explode and preset maker it’s well on acidhouse mate!
Could be a monster
Noise musicians rejoice. This bugga does what Fractal Bits does only with f’d up feedback. I’d give er 5 stars if only it could play with my midi toyz. It would be nice to have midi sequences laid out. Other instruments syncing w Abelton link etc. I perhaps was naive to assume upgrading to the full version would enable this. Dang think of what evil can be manifested if only it could play w Rosetta and Fractal Bits.
