Just like its elder, 7 Wonders: Duel offers you a chance to lead a civilisation to make it prosper. As in 7 Wonders, players will have the ability to play cards in various ways: by paying their cost to put them in their game area and benefit from their effect; by discarding them to gain coins; or by paying the cost of one of the 4 Wonders they have at their disposal to benefit from the effects of that Wonder.
In 7 Wonders: Duel, players don't choose the cards in a hand given to them by the player next to them, but from a specific pattern of cards on the table, the structure of which changes according to the current Age. These displays only leave some of the cards visible and accessible. When taking a card risks revealing another one advantageous to your opponent, each choice becomes critical to the game. While players had to wait for the end of the 3rd Age in 7 Wonders to know who was the winner, the players in Duel will be able to impose their military or scientific supremacy to win the game. Victory through military supremacy is obtained by getting the Conflict token to move to your opponent's capital Victory through scientific supremacy occurs when you've constructed buildings bearing 6 of the 7 different scientific symbols. And, if no player wins through supremacy before the end of Age III, it's whoever has the most victory points who wins the game.

Needs one thing...
The physical version of this game is one of our favorites in my house. Love the digital version, but wish it had push notifications and the ability to have a running back and forth game without having to stay in the app the whole time. My wife and I like playing games that we can come back to as we’re able to throughout the day when I’m at work and she’s with the kids, but having to both be on through a whole game makes this one unplayable for that scenario. Hopefully that feature can get added in a future update! This would be a perfect game for that kind of play.
Fun adaptation of the board game
I’ve really enjoyed the cardboard version of this game the few times I’ve played it, but I don’t get to play it often. So it’s great to have an app version now. After playing against the AI on an iPad a dozen times: this version works pretty well. They’ve had to distill the cards and symbols a bit to make it all fit in the screen, which can make it a bit harder to follow at first, but you can always press and hold on a card to see the full thing. The tutorial was a good refresher for me, since I had not played in a while. I would think it’s good enough to teach a new player as well. As far as I can tell, there is only one AI level. It’s decent, with me, an early-intermediate player, winning about half my games. I’m definitely glad I bought it and will enjoy getting to play this great game even when I don’t have a real-life local opponent handy.
Great implementation, a few early bugs
This is a great digital adaptation of this game. It looks beautiful and the functionality is all there. Holding on your and opponents bag to see cost of cards is great.
Bugs I have seen (but based on history of this company expect them to be resolved soon):
1. Getting logged out of account for online play after requesting a match and the app crashes, when reopening it says account in use on another device. It has never crashed mid game, only at start.
2. Sound from iPhone speaker not working sometimes.
3. Difficult to view effects of science tokens without taking one by mistake.
4. Hints still appearing sometimes after tutorial is done.
5. Progress text banner getting stuck on the screen.
6. Viewing wonders by mistake happens sometimes, often when dismissing the unwanted tutorial button.
7. End scoring chart should have a mark that shows military or science victory.
8. Science tokens of the opponent are upside down.
