Canvas 0.7 offers iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max users the option of capturing larger, more complex, and even multi-room spaces by walking around them
Canvas requires iPhone 8 or above, and delivers the best scan quality and accuracy with LiDAR-enabled iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max.
Meet Canvas, the fastest, easiest way to create a scale-accurate 3D model of a room — all from your iPhone. 3D capture now fits in your pocket, and it's as easy as taking a video.
Instead of capturing one measurement at a time, Canvas captures thousands per second, and then combines them into a single 3D representation of the space — with color. You can view your 3D model from any angle, measure between any two points, and revisit it any time — in-app or via the Canvas Web Viewer.
Our Scan To CAD service takes your 3D model one step further: for a small fee per model, you can convert your scans into editable, professional-grade CAD files and jump right into design, quoting, or other planning in a variety of industry-standard programs. It's the easy button for creating as-built 3D models and 2D drawings.
Scan To CAD can output SketchUp, Revit, Chief Architect, 2020 Design Live 3D CAD files as well as 2D floor plans in PDF and AutoCAD formats. From there, you can make structural changes, change materials and decoration, and even create high-quality 3D renders.
Canvas is trusted by thousands of home improvement professionals: design-build firms, kitchen and bath remodelers, general contractors, architects, interior designers, and more. Here's what they say:
"Canvas allows us to bring the job site back to the office." - Kyle Meyer, Black Timber Builders
"It allows me to take on more clients than I would otherwise be able to." - Noz Nozawa, Noz Design
"Given that just about every other project starts with as-built modeling, it's easy to see how Canvas can be a game changer." - Mark Harrison, SketchUp
"I was able to use the 3D model from Canvas to raise a possible installation issue to my contractor, avoiding at least 2 months of delay." - Mike Balzer, Homeowner and DIYer
"I don't know what you all did differently with this application, but it FAR exceeds anything I've ever seen before. You've taken computer vision to a whole new level, and completely blown my expectations out of the water." - Mike McLaughlin, 3D Scanning Enthusiast

Ratings and Reviews
Good but Could Be Better
This app works really well. Scans can be a little grainy and lacking sometimes in detail. I would give it a 5 rating if you could combine scans to get a more detailed scan of a room. I suppose I’m also just used to total station Lidar scans that you can have combined scans that also merge data points to give a more detailed scan.
Overall, a great app for a phone. It’s crazy how far we’ve come that we can now do this on a cellphone.

Hello! You actually can combine scans as part of the Scan To CAD service — drop us a line at email@example.com if you'd like to learn how. As for combining into one scan, that can make the scan harder to work with and look even grainier or less detailed, but we are going to be adding an exploratory mode as well for LiDAR-enabled devices. If that answer satisfies you, we'd love to see you update that review to 5 stars ;)
Literally any room scanning app can do what this one does. Most of the time better. The usage of LiDAR is a gimmick. You only get more resolution in a scan using it which allows for subjectively more accuracy. That doesn’t mean anything when room scanning other than a boost in processing speed. That boost is ignored by this company forcing users to upload their scans for processing. Don’t buy into this greedy company. There are plenty of alternatives that offer the exact same functionality. Most don’t even need the LiDAR Scanner but simply benefit from having it. They also don’t require you to upload a customers private information to this company’s servers to “process”. The amount of information that can be harvested from scans like these is sickening. GPS data, network information, any photos or family pictures hanging on the wall, a full blueprint of a space along with the location of all the valuables. You are forced to upload all of it and give it over to be stored and processed remotely for anything usable. I’m guessing the steel sack it takes to then charge folks $0.15/ sq ft for these scans is so that the information can be adequately safeguarded and encrypted but I highly doubt that the case. Even if the info is properly handled, what stops this company from just selling that info to advertisers for a nice amount? Don’t be fooled by a gimmick.

Thank you for taking the time to review our app, even if you didn't have a good experience. It sounds like you may be looking for a general 3D room scanning app, and you're right that there are many apps that can generate a 3D scan, especially with LiDAR. What Canvas specializes in is making that 3D scan data useful for professionals in the home improvement industries - people who need to capture field conditions and measurements and use that data in CAD or BIM programs. We charge $0.15 per sqft for that conversion to various CAD and BIM formats, but make the ability to scan (as well as export) free. We'd also like to add that we in no way sell uploaded data to advertisers, and because we charge for Scan To CAD processing, we really have no incentive to do so. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss further - please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and reference your App Store review.
The folks at Canvas were more amazing of a resource than I would have thought possible. Knowledge, integrity and respect were my main takeaways of our interactions and that's considering the fact that I was trying to utilize their app in a somewhat experimental manner. After our numerous conversations over email and video I was left requesting that they keep my contacts on file should the needs I have ever align with their business plans. I'm left satisfied with their product, help & goals and look forward to the next opportunity we have to work together. Such a great product and team.
