What’s New

Version 0.12.0

Shows can now be tagged with different vibes and decades. When hosting a show where you're trying to 'get the people going', you can tag it as "hype". If you're looking for something more low-key, keep an eye out for the "chill" tag. Eras like "80s" or "90s" can be added to shows too, if you're going for those retro vibes.

Love! Love! Love!

Now I can finally host my own radio show, and do it all from my bedroom. Amp combines social audio with access to Amazon’s music library.
The community of broadcasters and listeners is truly a positive place - I feel like I’ve already made friends.
The people who work at Amp are passionate about putting out a great product while also caring about its users.
Some major artists and celebrities have shows on Amp and many more have been guests and / or have shows launching soon. I love hearing someone like Nicki Minaj interact with her fans and take calls live via the app.

So AMPed to host shows!

Hosting a show on Amp is an experience like none other. It’s one thing to make a playlist; it’s entirely different to take the airwaves and share your thoughts with a live audience. It’s so much more than radio or podcasts — Amp is truly something fresh.

Even better? When listeners call in and join the conversation. I’m so excited for the social potential of this app, and can’t wait to see where it goes next!

Great in theory

I have to say I was let down… I spent a lot of time searching for songs (half of them weren’t available)
and when I finally got a playlist together and went “live” no one happened to be listening so to it just went off air (why?) but even more annoying is it doesn’t save the playlist to try to go live again later - everything just disappears so you’ll spend all this time creating a playlist - launch it - and if no one happens to listen to it after a couple minutes it just vanishes and you have to start all over again.

I get it - it’s in Beta but being able to save a playlist as a draft should be something relatively obvious. Oh well. I’ll revisit later.

Developer Response ,

Hey there, it's the Amp team. We're sorry to hear about this experience and are working to solve a few things you mentioned. For starters, because Amp isn't an on-demand music streaming service, and songs are provided at no cost to users, you'll need at least one listener in order to play music. Second, live shows without activity for three minutes are automatically ended. Playing music or talking will both register as activity. Thank you for being patient during this Beta phase!
