Description
This is the new app for ECOBICI, Mexico City’s public bike system.
ECOBICI’s evolution has begun. You can now access more than 9k bikes and 687 state-of-the-art stations.
Just plan, unlock, and ride. With the ECOBICI app, you can:
- Choose a plan, or switch plans
- Find stations near you, and check their bike availability in real time
- Easily unlock a bike at the port
- Enjoy unlimited 45-minute rides
- Get confirmation after successfully locking a bike
- Review your ride history
- Easily link your MI card
ECOBICI connects with the Health app and sends ride durations so your pedaling counts towards your health goals.
ECOBICI is ideal for short rides. It also lets you communicate with other means of transportation. You can find bike lanes on the map, and just go places easily.

Thanks for using ECOBICI! We update our app regularly to make your rides even better. Every update of our ECOBICI app includes improvements in speed and reliability. As new features are released, we'll highlight those for you in the app.
Ratings and Reviews
Good but Limited Functionality
You only get access to a small selection of bikes with this app, the majority of the city is on an obsolete system that is incompatible.
I made the mistake of buying a full year pass, but even then I still use the app alright getting across Condesa or up and down some of Av. Insurgentes.
The app & new bikes work great; it’s just a failure to not consider backwards compatibility. Suggest viewing the map or buying the shortest term membership to see if the selection works for you.
Great app & access; coverage/availability increasing
This version of the bikes is different than the last, but it’s far easier to access. You can use the app or link your metro card. It’s been out like a month and they’ve added a ton of stations in that time.
The reviews that say there are no stations were written right when they launched the transition, I’d guess they’ve already doubled the stations since then.
Funciona bien pero no hay bicis en hora punta
Las bicicletas y estaciones son nuevas y la nueva app funciona muy bien. El problema es que en hora punta, si la usas para ir o regresar del trabajo de lugares céntricos (ejemplo en Reforma) casi no se encuentran bicicletas al final de la tarde para regresar a tu casa y si es de mañana no hay donde estacionar y tienes que dar mil vueltas y alejarte de tu destino para estacionar la bicileta. En hora punta a veces es mejor usar otro tipo de transporte.
