Great App

By far the best app for news, whether that is for sports, politics, or local this app is the go to. If you’re smart enough you can manipulate the algorithm. People complaining that they see bad stuff is because they are watching/viewing comments/searching for the bad stuff. If you don’t like something simply mute the topic or block the people and the algorithm will take it out. I love this for my sports, I can connect with everyone and get real time information quicker than any other source. Communities section is interesting, I rarely use it. Only time I find myself on it is for my sports team. Community notes are legit, we need more people contributing to it though. I also love love spaces and the ability for live streaming. It gives you notifications at the top when someone you like goes live. I use it for a bunch of different account.

All n all once you find what you’re looking for it is a excellent app. If I could change one thing? It would probably less pictures on posts, seems like every post needs one now a days.

On Mac this app is horrible!

This is a great example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. The Twitter app for Mac was working really well. It was a Mac app, not an iPad app. The decision to kill the dedicated Mac app without first making the iPad app fully capable of running well on macOS was stupid. One major problem I have is that when I am typing something in a tweet, the auto complete will try to guess what I am typing and it will often start replacing what I am typing before I can finish a word. This screws up what I was typing. I have to backspace over it and start again and again just to get something typed out. I also don’t like how when I am viewing another X user’s profile, I have to scroll right and left to see things like posts, replies, media, etc. The Mac app had all of these things available in the window without the need to scroll. The Mac app was responsive to the size of the window on the screen. This crappy app is not! It’s total laziness to make us use the iPad app on Mac instead of giving us a dedicated Mac app. X should either bring back the Mac app or start all over and do this right. macOS and iPadOS are essentially the same operating system, but they have different user interfaces. The app should be responsive to the interface of the device it is installed on. It should not force us to use an interface that was not designed for macOS.

Twitter wasn’t ever good, but X is still worse

Twitter has always been a great app for keeping up with sports, events, and people you’re interested in. It’s technically still that nowadays, but the experience has worsened so much ever since Twitter became X. More specifically, ever since you could pay $8 to boost your account and take over the top spots of replies. Spam is more visible than ever because of this, ads are everywhere whether you pay for premium or not, and there’s huge privacy concerns regarding new implementations like calls.

I still use this app because I can still do what I always wanted: keep up with my interests. I can do the same on Reddit and Meta platforms in some cases, but Twitter serves a purpose in my routine of this. It’s not a free speech platform and there is a bunch of misinformation that is spread here (but that’s nothing new). Elon had some interesting ideas but the approach with everything has been disastrous and disappointing.

I can no longer properly recommend this service to anyone. It’s full of spam, ads, misinformation, and bots. Not to mention that if there’s ever a case of you being harassed or if you see any other form of rule breaking, support will do nothing to assist you even if you pay for premium. That subscription isn’t worth it and this platform is not worth your time.
