iOS port

Dodonpachi Resurrection seems like an excellent game, but the iOS port has some control flaws. The buttons are a bit small to consistently press while in frantic situations, so I often find myself getting hit by lasers or trying to bomb, only to end up autobombing because I couldn't hit the button in time. I think a much better way to tackle the controls would be to have the game slow down when you lift your finger, displaying 2 buttons for bomb and hyper. While you're playing, swiping up would activate shot, swiping down would activate laser. Having extra buttons in a touchscreen shmup
complicates controls.
The inclusion of a smartphone mode is nice, I like the s/m switch mechanic, but the hyper cannon is lame in my humble opinion. It would've been better with the regular hyper. Spinning the wheel around until you fire or get hit seems like they were trying to shove in a touchscreen mechanic.
Aside from that, though, the game is very fun and worth the price. (Maybe wait for the steam version though because it won't have the touchscreen mcflubber) 😉 [edit] the PC version is out and that game is excellent. This one is a bit hard to control, especially on higher difficulties.

Bullet haven 2!

Great new take on a classic game. If your debating on whether or not to get the HD version as opposed to this version consider this. 6$ is enough to buy another title from caves library. However if you are satisfied with only one title and enjoy bullet hell the HD upgrade is worth the money for the superior visual effect it has shown when I played the demo and compared then side by side. I enjoyed the original (BD) and it's not HD so I chose this version rather than take sides over one version bc it's HD. With this I was able to buy bug princess as well (for the price of just buying the HD) so depending on what you prefer this version will suffice if you don't care much for glittered graphics. Welcome to bullet hell and enjoy the Ride!

An iOS game that’s legitimately incredible? What is this witchcraft?

It’s nice to know that in a market that is dominated with cheap, forgettable stuff like Angry Birds, there are still some apps that are incredibly worthwhile. This just happens to be a perfect port of one of my favorite arcade games of all time, with incredibly smooth controls. It’s not the most accessible game out there (it is a bullet hell game after all), but if you’re looking for a challenge or just something on the App Store that’s actually worthwhile and really deserves to be called one of the greatest games of all time (seriously, despite the genre differences, I’d actually place this among Half-Life 2 and Silent Hill 2 as one of my favorite games), try this out.
