A feature-packed app to get you playing real (or at least recognizable) music fast. You don’t have to read music to play the guitar. Starting with the basics of the guitar and moving to practicing all the chords, you can pick up on everything you need to understand and play the guitar. With a built-in electronic tuner and metronome/drum tracks included in this app, Guitar Basics For Dummies is the first (and maybe only) guitar app you’ll need.
Jump right into your own lessons with an overview of the anatomy of the guitar and how guitars work. From there you’ll get instruction on tuning your guitar – complete with relative and reference tuning; and don’t forget to utilize the tuner in this app to help you along. Detailed lessons on position and posture (sitting, standing, left-hand, right-hand) and chord diagrams, rhythm slashes, and tablature set the stage for chord lessons. You’ll learn how to play and strum the essential chord families (A, D, G, and C) as well as learning how to play Barre chords. Warm up and play along with popular songs, including – Kumbaya, Swing Low, Auld Lang Syne, and a few more recognizable classics. And you’ll get your own Chord Library – complete with diagram and other helpful visuals. Whether you want to learn guitar for a hobby or to be a star, this app has something for everyone.

The forgotten lefty (again) duhhh
Hi- this app is great and exactly what I wanted- to learn guitar starting from very basics explained simply : ) A to Z
One problem - the Dummy who wrote this didn't Know that Left handed people also play.. duh... left handed guitars and didn't add tips for us .
Only right handed playing is refered to fingering wise : ( but we Lefties are no Dummies and will c things our way- Duhhh....The Left way
A real dud
The app is not like the program that gives you lessons you can learn some beginning cords and play along with. It is academic and the kind of things that aren't motivating to a beginner. I rather have my money back and look for a free app that I'm sure will give this content.
Some good points, but lacking overall
The amount of text in this app is limited, which I found surprising since its a "for dummies" publication so I expected it to be a like a book. In one section it criticizes other guitar instruction books for being "ho-hum" and says if you buy other books you'll have to learn a bunch of songs "you probably don't care about anyway", but then when you to to their play along section they have Kumbaya as the first song! Are you kidding me? If anything says "ho-hum" it's Kumbaya.
There are some good features, there is a nice interactive feature that shows fingering for different chords on a simulated guitar neck, and it includes a tuner. But, you can find chord fingering for free on the internet and good iPhone tuners are available for less money.
Furthermore, this app is really BASIC. You aren't going to learn anything here beyond strumming a few chords (and the ones in Kumbaya at that). There is nothing about scales and you certainly aren't going to learn anything about lead guitar here. All in all its way to basic with not all that much content and I really would not recommend it.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
