The essential tool for all musicians playing traditional Irish, Scots, Welsh and Breton music!

Ever sat in a trad session and wondered what was the name of that great tune someone just played? Well now you can search a database of over 22,000 tunes from your iPad BY PLAYING!

Just hold your device up to a melody instrument such as the tin-whistle, flute, concertina, uilleann pipes, accordion or banjo, hit record and the melody will be extracted and submitted to the tunepal.org search engine for matching.

Matching tunes are downloaded to your device, where you can view and edit the notation or the stave, email the tune, post it to facebook or play it back using the high quality playback engine based on ABC2MIDI and FMOD.

Favorite app but...

This is one of my favorite apps, but I’m unhappy about having to buy the IOS 11 upgrade when I’ve already bought the app.

Best app for trad music lovers

This app is indispensable for anyone playing Irish trad music. When you think of the time and effort saved in finding tunes, and in identifying tunes on the fly, it is worth far more than the cost.

Not so good

The issue is that in order to get tunes into the tunepal app, you have to know how to play it and record it then it will look up the tune. It would be nice if there was another way to get tunes into it but sorry!
