The Details:
We developed this weight loss tool in response to a difficult dieting reality: Keeping track of what you eat is tedious and time consuming... However, tracking food consumption is proven to help dieters lose twice as much weight.* Unfortunately most people think tracking their diet means counting calories. They try to figure out the exact number of calories in a sandwich… how many calories in each slice of cheese? How much mayonnaise? What type of bread? Etc…

If you're trying to do the math for everything you eat… every time you eat, please use one of the many other wonderful calorie counting apps available. But the reality is... Counting calories is too hard (and unrealistic) over the long run.

Our solution is far more elegant and effective: A Photo Food Diary. Photo Food Diaries provide the key benefits of food tracking (Awareness and Accountability) without wasting your time!

AWARENESS: Let’s face it… we eat a lot (and for the wrong reasons). We eat when we’re bored, when we’re being social, when we’re not hungry! AND… when we eat for the right reasons we tend to eat MORE than we should. A Photo Food Diary brings Awareness into our dietary lives without all of the tedious counting. Food tracking is about Awareness, NOT counting. How much did you eat yesterday? We’re certain your food diary will surprise you!

ACCOUNTABILITY: Once you gain the mindset that you’ll be snapping a picture of everything BEFORE you eat it, your food decisions improve. “I’d really like chili cheese fries right now… but I’ll need to snap a photo first. Then I’ll have to stare at a picture of my bad food decision next time I open my diary.” Over time, better eating habits are formed and weight comes off!

So close to perfect!

Simple, easy to use. The only problem is you can't go back to add something to previous days if you forget to snap it. The only other thing I'd suggest is for the snappy/average/naughty entries to be grouped in columns/rows rather than kept in chronological order. That way, for each day, we could see the good foods we eat grouped together and the bad foods we eat grouped together and so get a better idea of how we're doing over all. I'm grateful for the app - it's helpful!

Simple but lacking some key features

I love the simplicity of this app for keeping a daily food journal. Just snap a photo. You can also import from your camera roll which is handy. The problem comes when you forget to snap a photo before you eat something, or if you snap a photo on your camera to import later. You can't edit the date/time of the entry so it may not show in the right order or on the right day even. Also it would be nice if you could add a manual text entry for times you forget to snap.

Pros and cons...

Pros: The photos remind you of thingwss you've eaten that may not have been part of your plan, like a slice of birthday cake at work. It also links with AchieveMint, and rewards are always a good thing!

Cons: The biggest con for me are the alerts - they're sent based on your last log of the day, which might be ok if its later in the day, but if you forget to photograph past lunch, the remember-to-use notification happens around 3AM.
