In the depths of space, containment fields are degrading and spectres are threatening to break free. To re-establish containment, you must solve laser puzzles. Use mirrors, lenses, and more to guide laser beams to colored targets in this scientifically accurate and wildly cool laser game. Watch out for the spectres... they will haunt you.

Quantum Spectre challenges players to solve increasingly tricky puzzles. Each new puzzle requires players to demonstrate a deeper intuition about the behavior of light and an understanding of the optics tools. Quantum Spectre is part of the Leveling Up collection, developed by EdGE and to support and measure science learning in games people choose to play in their free time.

EdGE — On the edge of science and play! The Educational Gaming Environments group (EdGE) at TERC hopes to show that learning happens in all kinds of places by investigating the possibilities—and challenging the assumptions—of game-based learning environments. EdGE is designing and studying games whose mechanics mirror real scientific phenomena, but more importantly, are fun to play.

Neat physics game!

I might have liked physics more if I'd had this game as a kid (yup, not a kid, and I still played the first 72 puzzles before I could stop). You can do the puzzles by trial and error, but as they get harder, figuring out the rules by which the lasers and mirrors work will let you do each puzzle in the optimum number of moves (Hint: moving the mirrors and rotating them count as separate moves.), and keep the spectres contained. You don't need to know about lasers to get started, the game will teach you as you move up the levels. Very smart and fun game!

Nice take on light and mirror puzzles

Nice take on the light and mirror puzzle style games - very addictive! Love it even though I have a miserable time with the curved wide mirrors that reflect multiple beams - argh!
