My phone was an iPhone 5S and I’m upgrading to an iPhone 8. For whatever reason when I backed up my old iPhone to update my new iPhone not everything transferred over. I was using iCloud to transfer everything but there were some things that didn’t make it such as my contacts and calendar appointments; ironically all my photos and apps did. So I tried this ATT Mobile Transfer app. Upon setting up it took forever to “get connected” or whatever term it uses. After that it said it was “finding content”. The issue is that it never stopped loading... I kept both of the phones connected for about 45 minutes to an hour and the entire time the app said “finding content”. I decided to close the app down on the phone to see if anything happened and it didn’t. Other people are saying theirs took a few minutes....I was not so lucky.
2nd time around: I went through my old phone and I deleted apps and photos that were transferred with iCloud. I think this made connecting to the ATT Mobile Transfer much easier! However, there still 200 or so contacts that will not transfer over. I go through the prompts and select contacts, it sees 378 of them, but when I hit transfer only 178 actually transfer... I’ve tried it like 4 or 5 times and it still doesn’t work.
Best data transfer App ever
I literally ran to this feedback section to give this review. I’ve gone a week waiting for my old contact sync app to provide an update to make it compatible with iOS 11. In that time my contacts have been in limbo and I’ve my text messages have been name and faceless.
Enter this beauty of an App. In under 2 minutes I downloaded the App and officially transferred all my contacts just like that. Not only that, I’ve had issues transferring my old pics and videos because I have an antiquated windows computer that required a a days worth of windows updates in order to properly back up my old phone. That being said, all my info was still on my old phone waiting for the smoke to clear before I could transfer to the new one. But just like that, the AT&T Mobile Transfer App has brought balance back to the Force. Thank you for restoring my world.
Not all contacts transferred
Was transferring from iphone 6 to iphone 8 and though it SAYS most of my contacts transferred, some of them the numbers didn’t transfer. Because iCloud is impossible to deal with when you’ve had lots of photos and several phones (somehow even when deleting it’s always full) I’m still left frustrated that many numbers didn’t come over.
I don’t know how else to respond to the developer response, so here goes: It does seem like the contacts that weren’t transferred happened after my icloud stopped downloading. With that said, when you go to set up the phone, it already gives you the option of syncing with icloud, and I knew that would be problematic in my case. It’s a free app, so I can’t complain too much, but it would be WONDERFUL if an app could be developed to actually just do it phone to phone somehow. I’ve had issues with itunes too, btw on my laptop - I connect the new phone and it tells me it can’t connect, so I’m kinda screwed :(
Developer Response ,
Hello Bethsodas - this is Larry from AT&T and I apologize for your experience. Typically we don't move cloud contacts to avoid duplication when you sign in on the new device. Can you tell if the contacts that did not move are associated with a cloud account?
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
