Simplify and automate everyday tasks between apps by creating custom recipes with "if this, then that" statements. Text yourself if rain is forecast for tomorrow, save a news story once it posts, or share a photo the instant you snap it. With hundreds of supported apps and services, you can customize a seemingly endless number of powerful connections.
I just clicked 3 buttons, signed into my blink account, set my destination, not my cameras shut off when I’m home! So easy, the buttons are labeled with that they do, sometime in 2008 someone decided everything needs to be an icon or image, thanks for labeling the buttons, easy!!
Great to hear that setup was quick and easy for you! Thanks for sharing your feedback, we’re glad you’re enjoying using IFTTT!
Used this for years when it was free, continued on to the “pay what you want” subscription, then the $1.99 subscription, then they wanted to raise prices again. I get the developers have expenses, but I’ve never seen an app so quickly paywall, lie about the paywall, then raise the paywall every time you turn around, and then silently stop your applets running for years as they move more and more features to pay to play. This used to be a first class app when it was more open source, but now it’s basically useless. It wasn’t worth paying for when that started and now it’s not worth it at all.
Hey there,Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We hear your concerns about the Pro plan updates and how features are accessed, and we really appreciate your perspective. Feedback like yours is insightful and is taken into consideration as we plan future updates.
I have loved playing around w the native shortcuts app but the automation options are very limited and after looking around this app seemed like the most popular choice for folks interested in more complex and varied automations w far more integrations. I’ve had the free version sitting in my app library for about a month now and cannot use it at all. I understood that the free version had it’s limitations including a limited number of free applets, but it says I have a limit of zero. I can’t use or create any. It’s very frustrating. Before I downloaded it I was betting I would pay for the pro, but the fact I’m unable to even test the functionality at all with the free version puts me off paying for pro. I figured that a zero applet limit was a bug, especially since the descriptions of the plans, along with the FAQ, explicitly state that even with the free version you can use an (unspecified) limited amount of applets. I also considered that it was possible I was doing something wrong. So, I reported my issue (which was also a difficult process through their webpage but it seems that if you’re pro it’s much easier). It’s been a month and I haven’t heard back at all, and I’ve also seen this bug mentioned on the Reddit. I’ll probably just try the trial for pro to actually see what I can do with the app, but the lack of support really has soured my first impressions.
This app, while probably not for everyone (particularly those who use a smart phone only for calls, texts, and angry birds), is an amazingly powerful tool for those that want to automate things. I personally love its integration with Belkin's WeMo devices. It's newest GPS features for triggering actions are a god send. I haven't found the gps features to be draining on the battery like others have claimed, and if you carefully define the area to use for a gps trigger, it works very well. Be warned, this is not a BTLE trigger, so it's not going to know when you move from room to room within your house. I suspect other users expected that level of location accuracy. I've got a recipe that turns on a light in my Apt when I arrive home. My Apt complex is rather size able compared to others I've lived in, so it works well since the trigger area covers the building my apt is in (there are about a dozen building that make up our complex). When I pull in the garage, my light turns on and is ready when I walk in the door. And when I leave the apt complex and get to about a block away, it turns the light off. There are many other uses for IFTTT, so give it a try. You might find something that amazes you.
Not sure if this is an issue with the iPhone or the app itself: when I turn OFF the app in Cell Data options, in iPhone Settings, it constantly turned itself back on to be active when Cell Only (no Wifi) is on. Checked within the app itself and found a setting that seemed to be the culprit. Turned Cell Data off within the app, and figured that must have been the issue (yet puzzled how the App could override iOS' settings). Later after rebooting the phone and checking my Settings for iOS Cell Data, expecting IFTT to remain OFF, there it was, ON again. Deleted the IFTT App until we can figure out how to prevent it from activating itself in a Cell Only connection when clearly we turned that access OFF in every way we can imagine. It might be that there is malware on the iPhone so not 'blaming' this App, at least not until we confirm it has overridden iOS settings by itself, sneaky coding or something. It has happened with several other Apps in past which as much as we liked them, are now also deleted. Therefore IF THIS app sneakily overrides iOS settings, THEN THAT means it remains deleted, and IF THIS turned out to be deliberate THEN THAT will be reported to Apple. But IF we are wrong and it is another problem, THEN we are sorry about THAT.
I love the new interface! I've used IF since its inception as IFTTT and always thought the iOS app was unintuitive and difficult to navigate. I would usually wait until I was on my Mac to explore and set up recipes. This redesign is such an improvement! I don't mind the change to "applets." The app's simplicity rests in its "if THIS then THAT" method of creating a workflow, and that instruction hasn't changed. Channels are gone and it wasn't immediately clear how to check my connected services and find new ones. But I quickly forgot about channels as I played with the app— the focus is on the applets, and the applets point you to the needed services. In other words, "channels" as we knew them aren't a thing anymore. As for service issues... As I reviewed my "applets," the app automatically flagged any services that needed reconnection. All applets are running as they always did. I'll keep an eye out, but so far everything is running just fine!To users with applets not running as expected, check to make sure "background app refresh" is turned on. IF has always needed background app refresh to work properly.
