Stephen Yeargin ,

Great app, outstanding support

I've used all three versions of Igloo. The app is great. Whenever I've had the rare issue, the developer responds to my email in a couple of hours to get it resolved.

LinuxSam ,

Just a bad developer

I'm very unimpressed. I bought the app once in 2020. They did a big upgrade but after that requiring we email them, then they stopped honoring the upgrades for existing users. At some point they added a pro upgrade and apparently despite having bought the app before, I would need to pay again for that. Now they do version 3, less than 4 years after I first bought the app. They say existing users get a discount.

Version 3 doesn't detect that I bought the app before. The version I bought before no longer gives me features I paid for. Now they offer another "lifetime" license or a subscription.

I expect they'll want $40 in 2026.

Find another IRC app. This one is not reliable. I need it only occasionally and every time I come back, they want more money.

I wouldn't be so mad, except the version I already paid for is currently useless. Why should I keep buying from these guys?

Developer Response ,

Let me get this straight, you paid $3 6 years ago, missed your chance to get a free copy of version 2 even though I gave out free codes for over a year to the point where I didn't even have any more free codes to generate, and now you're complaining that you have to pay again for a brand new app when you can just use the old one?

The funniest part is I've given out 100+ free codes for version 3 already just because someone asked for it or said they couldn't afford it etc. I'm not here making millions of dollars, it's an IRC client in 2024, there's only hundreds of dollars to be made.

You should be grateful that I'm wasting my time making a new & improved app from scratch for the 200 people that use IRC on their iPhone for a few hundred dollars when I can be focusing on something that actually pays my bills.

Also, this new version specifically added subscriptions for situations like yours, if you don't want to buy a license, just subscribe for a month and cancel it. The subscriptions aren't there for me, they're there as a way for users to save money depending on their situation.

Anyway, best of luck to you in life with an attitude like that. We'll see you back on Igloo after you try out the other clients that haven't been updated in years and barely work and have no features or configuration 😉

Aleksei Melezhik ,

They don’t disclaim this is a paid product

The link from old igloo irc client advertises this one and get me here, well I am very disappointed to see that this version is not free, no disclaimer, nothing , you only see it when you upload the app, very irrespective for igloo devs 🙁

Developer Response ,

Unfortunately when you have an app that is mostly usable for free, people don't pay for upgrades or donate, I can't even pay my car payment with the income from the classic igloo, the payment structure needed to change. I'm sorry you're unhappy but email support or come to our support channel and we'll hook you up with a free code.
