Good and getting better

Overall a good revision of the app, but some simple and usual elements are changed or missing.

I know I’m not alone in wanting the ability to ignore users. The IRC world is rampant with ugliness and without ignore, you can’t truly shut it out at times.

Please add the ability to choose to turn off the Slap function. I can’t tel you how many times I’ve gone to a user, wanted to see their WhoIs, only to have that menu jump and in turn, making me select the Slap function.
I don’t slap people. I don’t like violence. This seems like an easy ‘re-add’, as the function was a toggle selection in the previous version.

Lastly, there have even times that I select the theme (always Light) only to launch the app and have to select it again. This even comes when setting the selection to my iPads default theme. Just a simple bug there.

Again, good work. I just know it can always get better!

Thanks!

Developer Response ,

Ignore just hasn't been made a thing because it's really just unreliable. Someone can just change their nick/ident/host and bother you again and eventually you have 700 entries in your ignore list and you're still being bothered. As for the slap action, I'll add a toggle for that. As for the theme switching, are you making sure that you are hitting save after changing the theme rather than hitting cancel or simply swiping the settings away? The theme change is applied immediately when the theme is selected, but only saves to your settings if you hit the save button. Give that a shot and if you still have a problem email contact@igloo.app or hit support in settings to come into our irc channel.

Junk

ITS A SCAM Doesn’t have ignore feature, doesn’t have ability to type in color, can’t make font bigger than 20 so it’s tiny on phone screen, developer response “I’ve only made enough money to buy a slice of pizza” don’t waste your money find something else, even turboirc has more features and it hasn’t been updated in years, developer got mad when email complaints came in and pulled the older version but not until he pulled all its features. Paid for that one and he pulled it, nothing to say he won’t pull this one after he gets more pizza money. ITS A SCAM

Update : went to support and asked questions about it not having a feature and was berated and kicked out of the room, I can see now why it only has 3 stars, I was willing to give it a shot but if the developer is condescending and has a “it’s my app and I do what I want” attitude and berates and allows people to be berated in the so called “support” room what does that tell you? If I could afford the 20$ I now know I wouldn’t pay it FIND ANOTHER, ANY OTHER APP OR PROGRAM

Developer Response ,

Instead of a jerky 1 star review, how about send a friendly email or hop in our chat and just make some suggestions. This app has been here now for a few months and nobody has asked for ignore, nobody has asked for the color inputs, and nobody has asked for a font bigger than 20 (which is massive btw). Turbo IRC is a really bad app that literally is so old it doesn't even take up your whole screen and can't connect to a server with SSL lol. Also, this new app exists specifically so it can be supported long term unlike the old app, and this is a lifetime purchase rather than an upgrade in an app that was planned to be depreciated a long time ago. This new version was started back in 2021, just was too busy with things that make me more than $200 to finish it.

RE: Update
Just like you were a jerk in your original review, you were a jerk in the channel to myself and others just trying to help you, additionally, what makes you think you're going to get help if you leave a 1 star review first saying it's a "SCAM"? The fact that you're crying this much about not having /ignore makes a lot more sense now after seeing multiple interactions with you. Don't be so confrontational and you won't need to ignore people when they hurt your poor little feelings in response to your jerkiness. If you could just be a decent person, you would've gotten a free code just like every single other person that comes into the channel or emails me, but you're not capable. Please go find another client, you using Igloo gives it a bad name.

Bait and Switch

I purchased the previous version of Igloo, I didn’t use it for a few months, and now I’m told I have to use this one? Not only that I have to pay for it again?! What?! Absolute bait and switch scam. Despicable developer and absolutely shameful behavior.

Edit: After reading the other reviews and developer responses? Wow… just wow… you don’t deserve a dime. Developer is amazingly arrogant, run away, run far away…

Edit 2 (after dev response): wow… as others have already stated, you did not need to disable the previous app, that people, like me, already paid for.

Maybe, just maybe, you should have made it clearer that there is a process to get an “upgraded” license instead of demanding that people “ask nicely” for one. Maybe, also just maybe, you could’ve made it automated and built in to the app.

You’ve got a terrible attitude, terrible customer service, and clearly don’t know how to be an honest, reputable business person.

“I make igloo for myself and am nice enough to offer it to others”

But are you though? It sure doesn’t seem that way. You’d probably be better off forgetting this whole app development thing and working as a barista, but you’d probably get fired from that too for how horrible your attitude is.

Developer Response ,

Or you could email support or come to our support channel like 500+ other people which all received a free license. If your first thought after a developer spends months building a brand new app, is to leave a bad review instead of contacting support, that's your problem, not mine. Why do I have a bad attitude, oh I don't know, maybe because of people crying over $5 and saying I'm trying to "get rich" when there's a few hundred people using IRC in 2024. I make Igloo for myself and am nice enough to offer it to others, I can simply remove it instead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Response to edit:
For months after launching the new app there were pop ups on launch telling you about the new app and how to upgrade (and get a discount) and it also linked to our website with even more info. The real problem is your attitude and lack of reading. If you had read, you would've known how it all worked, and if you didn't spend more time leaving a bad review, you could've just called, emailed, or chatted in our support channel and asked a question and received a free code (which you can still get if you just do any of the aforementioned things). I'm not sure why people seem to think that reviews are for support when the app has a support button, and the App Store forces you to have a support site, phone number, and email address listed.
