This easy to use macro/automation utility can save time, typing and hundreds of clicks everyday. Do less and accomplish more. Avoid carpal tunnel, get more accomplished and have fun with iKey. An excellent manual written by Adam Engst* is included.

“Since I started using iKey, this gem has saved me up to an hour a week using shortcuts. Overall, I found the iKey to be reliable and very easy to use. For those looking for an affordable solution to creating shortcuts in Mac OS X, I highly recommend taking a look at iKey.”

Check out iKey page which includes links to the manual:

iKey lets you create shortcuts these are an action or series of actions just like you would perform on the Mac like:

Application - Launch, quit, hide, and switch among applications
Clipboard - Cut, copy, paste, and work with text on the clipboard
Document - Open documents
Folder - Show the contents of folders
iKey - Control iKey itself
Internet - Create email and visit URLs
Keyboard - Press keys and type text
Menu - Choose items from menus
Mouse - Simulate mouse movements, clicks, and scroll wheel actions
Network - Change network settings and mount servers
Printer - Select printers and print documents
Script - Run AppleScript scrips
Sound - Play sounds
System - Perform basic system tasks like sleeping, ejecting discs, invoking the screen saver, and more
Unix - Run collections of Unix commands
Utility - Wait for certain things to be true before continuing
Window - Open, close, move, resize, scroll, and switch among windows

In fact any repetitive action or series of actions you perform on the Mac can be performed by iKey.

Shortcuts can then be triggered by what are called Launchers which can be:
- a hotkey
- click from any usb mouse, trackball, gamepad and/or keyboard.
- menu selection
- and/or a programmed time/date.
- a system or network event.

So with one key press you can perform actions that take hundreds of keypresses, typing, clicking, and dragging. These actions can be performed much faster by iKey then you could do them by hand.

iKey is for everyone power users to beginning Mac users.

Are you a slave to your computer?
We love our computers, but we are all too familiar with the fatigue of repetitive tasks. We know computers are very capable of dealing with repitition, but there has been no easy way, up until now to collect them and pass them on to the computer to perform. Now, luckily on the Mac there is iKey. Free your self from the ball and chain of repetitive drudgery. Rule your computer, don't be a slave anymore use iKey.

A simple example of how iKey can save you time!
Say you open Safari each day and go to the same 8 websites and then copy some text which you email to someone. Instead of performing this same task each day for 15 mins with typing and clicking and opening and closing applications do it with iKey via one hotkey or menu item and let it work in the background while you do some other work or have a cup of tea. Seriously, why sacrifice your life to monotonous repetitive actions when your computer can do them for you.

Its ok when it works

I can get iKeys to do repetive tasks, but the software appears to get confused and starts to perform steps out of sequence. A moment ago it started deleting some short cuts that I made. Now it wont even run. I was just on the web page, it appears that they are going to start charging $10 for updates….I’ld like to see the software work like it appears in the window.

I cannot get it to press control-command-1 in mail. I only need it to create shortcuts for filing mail to my favorites folders and it does not work correctly. I can get it to recognize it from the menu, but that's not reliable if the folder names change. Useless software for me until that is fixed. I prefer to use apps formthe app store, but I have to go back to using Quickeys.
