Description

OVERVIEW
In My Eyes is an immersive virtual and augmented reality experience that simulates what life could look like with three retinal eye conditions. It shows what symptoms look like from a patient’s perspective to enhance disease education, empathy, and communication.

The app can be used on a smartphone with or without a Google Cardboard virtual reality headset.

STORY MODE
By choosing “Story Mode,” the user can see the world with three specific retinal eye conditions using virtual reality: Wet Age-related Macular Degeneration (Wet AMD), Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), and Macular Edema following Retinal Vein Occlusion (MEfRVO). First, the user can choose a patient to see life through their eyes with their eye condition. Then, they can interact with an immersive virtual reality experience that shows them the impact of a patient’s eye condition.

LIVE MODE
By choosing “Live Mode,” the user can see the world with three specific eye conditions using augmented reality: Wet AMD, DME, and MEfRVO. By viewing their immediate surroundings through a smartphone, the user can see what the symptoms of an eye condition are like – and their effect on everyday activities.

Close, needs to be customizable

This is helpful to a degree. Please add customization options. I would like to be able to alter the degree of waviness, and to change the size of the blur spot, and the value of the blue spot.

Some accurate, some not

I do not have the Google cardboard headset, so I used my camera. The wavy line effect is excellent, and true to my vision. The blind spot visual is WAAAY too small. Mine is huge and blocks out ALL central vision. The macula in one eye has been totally destroyed by a scar. The “spots” in my other eye are the size of a lemon, and it’s like looking through black lace. This doesn’t represent a real picture of my vision, but it’s a good start.

Terrible and misleading

This app is completely inaccurate and could be very misleading for those trying to understand the vision experienced by those living with eye disease. I have wet macular degeneration. This app in NO WAY simulated what I see. It is very misleading. One of the problems is it does not properly track the center of vision. In your app one could easily move their focus and “see around” the spot of missing central vision. This is not the case for me at all. Also, the “blurry” simulator does not come close to simulating blurry, out of focus viosion. This app should be removed.
