Beschreibung

The IndexMaker creates an index from PDF documents.
(Not only for Apple Pages users who miss a index function.)

Select a PDF file or an whole folder as source for your index.
Create a index of all words in the document(s) (full text index) or just for some specified words (target word index).
Edit the result by filtering out the stopwords (the, it, a, and...) or by substitute the flections (trees-> tree)
You can annotate each entry and, if necessary, subordinate it to a umbrella term, thus creating a hierarchy in your index.
Determine how the addresses should be formated (e.g. 1-5 or 1ff.).
You can export the index as PlainText, PDF, HTML, XML, RTF, MS Word or CSV file. For print- and PDF export you are be able to select the font type and size.

Please support the development with a review in the AppStore.

Best of breed

Here is a mac native app, that works exceptionally and has -the- best support I've ever experienced. Had a frustrating bug and within hours, the developer had found the issue and sent me a custom version that resolved it until a new version could be published.

It's exceptional and light years ahead of its competitors. Its most popular competitors is a $70 java app with a horrific interface.

If you need an index on a Mac, this is the option. Your time is more valuable than the cost of this software. It saved me dozens of hours.

Works as advertised

Needed to generate an index fast with no starting terms, I had one in under a minute using this software.

Saved my time, money, and sanity!

This app works and works well. A client of mine decided at almost the last minute to include an index in her book. The book was already laid out in Vellum, which does not do indexing. What to do? There was no time to mark the manuscript —besides, it was already a pdf. I decided to take a $20 gamble on IndexMaker. The app indexed every word in the entire 200-page manuscript in about three seconds. The next step was to give the auhor a copy of that index with the assignment to delete the unnecessary words and create a target word list. The app used the target word list to create a second index, and then—here’s the amazing part: MERGED that target word index with the edited index from the first build. Now, I will say there was a minor glitch in my pdf that caused the app to crash, but though I was able to work around it, the developer responded quickly and added code to the app in an update that automatically worked around MY pdf glitch! You can’t ask for better support than that!
