Cutting-edge XM technologies have completely transformed the Ingress Scanner, and it is now waiting for you to join this battle.

Fixed?

I’ve been playing Ingress for a few years, and in the past i was very happy with the scanner. I has no problems with it, and it worked great, it looked great, and the way the UI was setup, i was able to efficiently move around my UI with no problems and was able to enjoy it.

Then you guys tried to fix something that wasn’t broken and implemented a new UI which is much more difficult to move around, and is much more confusing to look at. Not only that, but you created more bugs and UI failures. Bugs that were never present before, and problems that were created from this new UI. I understand the want for improvement, but i believe that you went about improving it in the wrong way.

Sadly, time for this game to die

As someone who has played this game for years with my spouse, using both the redacted app and the prime app, it makes me very sad to say it but it is time to end this game. When Ingress was new, it was about traveling and exploring and meeting people. We had drinks with opposing agents in random corners of the world, and it was a blast. But Niantic has no system in place, no plan to prevent blatant cheating, and an incredibly poor history of communication with the player base. They take actions like recently suspending the accounts of hundreds of long-time players, for unknown reasons, with no prior notice or ability to appeal. If your account can be deleted or suspended for weeks or more at any time, with no warning and no explanation of what you did wrong, there’s really no incentive to invest time or money in planning game-related activities with your family. That’s especially true because a significant subset of ingress players have stopped playing and instead spend their time abusing in-game comms and the broken reporting process in order to harass and bully opposing players.

We used to encourage all our friends to try ingress - now we advise them to avoid it like the plague. Take up another game with clear rules and better community outreach, and without the seven year history of hostility, and don’t get yourself or your family invested in this mess.

Improved, needs polish.

Slightly more battery-consuming than its predecessor, the game does show promise. Minor graphical glitches are being worked on, but it’s mostly functional. My biggest issues are charging hundreds of keys which slows down the game, and the dark, ethereal graphics. Turn down the blurring, brighten things up, add some additional texturing to fields, and let us pan the view when linking and this game is almost ready for prime time.
