Visual inspection guide to identify surface conditions present on hot-dip galvanized steel and verify whether they are acceptable according to the specifications.
Newly formed hot-dip galvanized coatings can have different appearances and/or surface conditions. Many of these conditions are purely cosmetic and therefore do not compromise the corrosion protection provided. This visual inspection guide will help you to easily identify various surface conditions, understand what caused the condition, and whether it is acceptable according to ASTM specifications. In addition to the visual guide, you will find information and videos on touch-up and repair of hot-dip galvanized steel, as well as specification requirements.
